Our most popular beer, Legend's is a full bodied version of a British Brown Ale. Expect a rich, malt-forward brew with a beautiful mahogany tone. Generous amounts of specialty malts bring flavors of sweet caramel, toasted nuts, coffee, and molasses, all perfectly balanced by a steady but cautious hop dryness. Fruity undertones provided by our house yeast strain bring the final flavor element to round out this world class ale.

One of the better brown ales I’ve tasted. Medium body with rich malt taste. Goes with many types of food.

Clear chestnut, big, mousse-like khaki head, excellent retention, bands of lace
Toasted nut, caramel, slight roast aroma
Caramel, dried fruit, and toasted nut flavor
Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation
Surprised I never reviewed this before. There's a reason this was the most popular craft beer in Virginia back in the early days. It's exemplary of the style.

Appearance: Cola colored and drafted into a cold pint glass at a Virginia restaurant. No head, just an off-white ring without lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate and rich toasted malt. Caramel, molasses, mahogany.
Taste: Same as the nose but with added richness.
Feel: Light and crisp. Medium-high carbonation. Little bit dry.
Overall: Great job for a brown ale.

My go to Brown in VA. Better draft than bottle, but always a consistent product from a great brewery. Stronger coffee flavor than some other brown's so better cold and in cooler weather.

Mahogany hued with a medium size tan head and a fair amount of lacing. Whiffs of molasses floating above caramel malts. The taste up front reflects those sweet malts although there are some lingering floral hops as you ease towards the aftertaste. Medium-bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a long lasting finish.

Pours cola with a mild off white head. Maybe it’s just me, but I wasn’t getting much aroma from this at all. The first sip was bitter, dry, with a hint of molasses. Not too heavy on the hops, but definitely noticeable. The carbonation is spot on. I’m not very big on this style and so maybe I just don’t appreciate it like others. I do love the 5.8 ABV. If you are into ales then this is probably worth trying. I’m more of a doppelbock and a lager guy myself, so I probably won’t be stocking the fridge with this one. But I will say that it is not unpleasant. Just not my favorite.

Dark chocolate with a thin white head.
Light malty aroma. Not much really there to judge.
Basic brown malty taste. Nothing really unique.
Good mouthfeel.
A good beer, but nothing remarkable.

Malty, roasty. On the sweeter side, but it’s a pretty balanced brown. Solid.
