Notes/Commercial Description:
Our most popular beer, Legend's is a full bodied version of a British Brown Ale. Expect a rich, malt-forward brew with a beautiful mahogany tone. Generous amounts of specialty malts bring flavors of sweet caramel, toasted nuts, coffee, and molasses, all perfectly balanced by a steady but cautious hop dryness. Fruity undertones provided by our house yeast strain bring the final flavor element to round out this world class ale.

A - Dark brown with hints of red. Pours a big head that quickly settles with some lace.

S - Nuts, roasted malts, a hint of sweetness like brown sugar or caramel

T - The caramel comes through the roasted malts nicely. This is a sweet brown, but the sweetness is not overpowering. Hints of nuts during the drink, and a little twist of hops in the finish.

M - Has enough carbonation, and is not too thin.

D - If you have a hankering for a brown ale that brings some sugar to the party, this is a highly drinkable beer. The aroma and taste make it a pleasant experience.

Brown in Color, nutty rich aroma with a good half inch of head. Good carbonation and nice lacing on the glass all the way down. The nutty aroma carries over to the flavor. Robust flavor you'd expect from a brown ale, but finishes mild. Just shy of bitter but not sweet, very well balanced. I had it on the recommendation a bartender, on tap, a while back and had to look for at my local Total Wine. Great beer! I took a six pack to a friend's and they where a hit even with the MGD die hards.

Presentation: 1 pt 6 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Amber in color, beer poured with a generous head that retained at first, then gradually faded into a lace.

Aroma: Rather malty.

Taste: Sweet; also a little nutty. A hint of caramel malt perhaps. I never did detect any hops in the taste, but here I think that's a good thing.

Overall: This is an excellent beer.

Poured from 22oz bottle into 330ml Corsendonk tulip glass.

Appearance: Very dark (almost black) brownish/amber color with a huge tanned head that dissipates slowly and leaves behind both large and small spots of lace.

Smell: White grapes and caramel malt with a slight biscuity character and just a touch of grassiness.

Taste:Begins with caramel flavor that stays throughout with a sweet and sour grape-like taste in the background toward the end. Also has hints of biscuit and a touch of citrus in the finish. Superbly balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with sharp carbonation and a mildly dry finish.

Overall: A very good beer for its style and an excellent session brew. I was pleasantly surprised.

Legend Brown Ale is one of my absolute favorite brown ales. Plenty of malty character with a touch of hoppiness - beautifully balanced. The warm, inviting color coupled with a light tan head makes a very pleasing presentation. The aroma is sublimely malty with a slight chocolatey note and a hint of hop aroma. The hop presence in the flavor effectively supports the maltiness for a very well-balanced brown ale.

Legend Brown Ale looks great in the glass. It has a red-brown colour and an excellent 1cm head that is maintaned by high carbonation. This beer has a big malty smell. The flavour is similarly malty with a coffee aftertaste. The alcohol is noticeable too. This beer feels great in the mouth: very thick and carbonated.

Malterrific!

Surprising balanced and very drinkable. Very pleasant color and very nice thick head (from tap). Caramel, nutty, and sweet notes, hops is present, but not overwhelming like so many microbrews; low on the IBU scale. The beer was good enough for me to take the time to review it, which is saying something, as I have never reviewed a beer before (at least not publicly!)... Now back to drinking... I will definitely be having another one. :)

Three plus fingers of creamy head, dense bubbles slowly settling, leaving 1/4" of head over the mahogany-amber body. For all the froth, lacing is minimal.

Watermelon, yeast, bubble gum on the nose. Fruity, malty, refreshing and light, but complex.

Fruity, candied malts up front, while light citrus hops provide a dry finish, and round out the malts.

Mouthfeel is spot on for a brown. Wet at first and dry on the finish.

Easy drinker, sits well. Perfect with some hot dogs watching the afternoon ballgame.

22oz bomber into nonic.

Clear deep brown hue that turns to a mahogany color when held up to the light, with a thick and frothy two finger head that slowly settles to a thin even cap. Patches of solid lacing.

Light malt aromas, consisting of some walnut and a little it of brown sugar.

Soft nutty malt flavors with a touch of roastiness. A touch of caramel is in the background. Toward the end a little bit of hop bitterness comes in, with very little flavor from them. Full bodied. Some of the burnt flavors linger for a bit.

This is a solid Brown Ale that isn't too watery, and isn't exactly like a Porter, which is something that's hard to find sometimes. Good solid flavors, with just a touch of complexity. Recommended.
