On my adventures east every year I venture forth to the den that is home of Legend Brewing Co. They have a mug club and average beer. It is the swill we all hope to quaff one day. Crow pudding. Most of their regular offerings are decent. Sadly, they consistently have other beers on draft that are of poor quality for exceptional styles. This is always true. Their barley wine is terrible. Their quad last year was mediocre. Their tripel was probably chimerical. Their brewers imagination is terrible. At least from the evidence with which I've been presented.
Their only saving grace up until this point was Jenny, the bartender of 14.5 oz pour fame. Amazingly, every beer she poured would be 18 oz, with only 14.5 in the glass. She was loud, annoying, and hung the fuck over. But she was my Legend. Now, she is gone, fired. And now, after a sad last visit, I bid adieu to one of the worst brewpubs I hope I ever visit.
Never again will I see a man slumped against the wall in the bathroom, vaguely haunched over the urinal, asking, "Is everyone okay?"
Jenny, it's over.

I was just visiting from the north and stopped in and found a place that I know the locals are proud of. Great vibe, great food, great beer, and great people.

Good food and pretty solid beer. They also let you try nearly all of their beers in flights!

Their Triple is outstanding for the price. The food is what you might expect for a brewery. The scenery and the beer is why I enjoy this place. I would recommend Legend Brewing to any and all of my friends. They give out generous samples for those who want to taste all available brews.

I remember standing in the alley just outside the tasting room, because there only like 12 seats in the tasting room. Legend was my first beer love in richmond. From those humble beginnings Legend morphed into what you see today. A very nice restaurant upstairs and a nice beer vibe. The Legend brown and IPA were always a mainstay, my favorite was the porter until Tom the owner made the master brewer change the recipe to make it more mainstream. This is the only brewery where I retain a mug the "Beerslayer", the barley wine is my new favorite. There has been constancy issues with food and beer over the years. But I still recommend everyone try a Legend brew. They were the first good craft brewery in Richmond and have stuck around. We all owe Legend our beer respect.
