Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into a beer glass. This beer came as part of a sampler pack from Frankenmuth Brewery.
Appearance: Supreme. Pure golden color with extreme carbonation visible through the glass. Head is very frothy, and leaves a foamy lacing on the edges of the glass as it recedes. Dimples down very intriguingly. I like it!
Smell: Very heavy citrus on top of a sweet malty bottom. Some spice notes as well, with a noticeable alcohol presence. All scents work well together, and nothing is overbearing.
Taste: Flavor assault! Sweetness right up front, possibly a cinnamon/allspice/clementine combination. Hop oils are floral and going strong. Very nice. Taste turns malty very quickly, as the carbonation takes hold. During this phase, the hops come back with a bitterness that is divine. Aftertaste is all bitter hops, but not unpleasantly so. It makes you want to take another drink!
Mouthfeel: Very oily; not a bad thing, but not my thing. Still, it fits the style well and enhances the flavor, so I give it a straight 'good.'
Drinkability: I could easily drink this on the reg. Its ABV is about perfect for a three-drink night for me, and the taste is phenomenal. Definitely a good middle beer.
I don't give a lot of 5s for taste...but this tastes amazing. Very good job, Frankemuth!

A- Pours a hazy amber/ copper colored with a creamy two finger off white head. Talk about hang time, this head doesn't know how to quit. After five minutes there is still a one finger head. 10 minutes reveal a decent cap that remains until the final swallow. Ironically the lacing from it is light. Huh.
S- Modest hop bitterness with lemon, pine and juicy tropical fruit notes. A sweet malt presence backing it up.
T- Right away there is a battle for supremacy of my glass. The subtle bitterness in the nose is re-enforced with a powerful flavor bomb that brings out the citrus, pine and tropical fruit. Not to be outdone however the sweet bready malts step it up as well. Somewhere in the middle the malt flavor gains ground and takes the lead. But in the end the bitterness pushes back and in a bittersweet stalemate, Peace resumes. There are no losers here.
M- Medium bodied brew leaving a buttery/waxy feel.
O- This brew is a perfect example of a Midwest IPA. Bold hop presence with a strong malt backbone. I've had this beer before and I don't think I cared for it as much as this go around. Maybe they tweaked the recipe, maybe my pallet. Good overall and I will enjoy this one again.

Again on draft while visiting their brew pub in downtown Frankenmuth. Very nice 1 finger head with a light brown to yellow color, somewhat hazy. Good floral nose with plenty of scents of hops to go along. Plenty of sweet to go along with good not overpowering but ever persistent bitterness. Mouthfeel was good to above average had plenty of body and as much as people seem to beat this beer up I felt it could stand up to a lot of the smaller to mid sized breweries year round IPA's that I've had. Overall a nice beer that I will probably seek out from time to time and definitely have when I return.
