Pours a brilliant deep golden with a frothy cream head that leaves thick lacing as it dissipates moderately.
Pine, resin, toasted bread, and caramel malt form the initial aroma. Underpinnings of citrus and soap add complexity. Floral hops emerge late.
Flavor is fairly malt dominant, sweet and caramelly throughout, with bitter hop notes drying out the finish a bit. Diacetyl butterscotch and phenolic plastic surface mid palate. There's a subtle grapefruit flavor beneath, and the finish is resiny.
Body is pretty light, with moderate carbonation, fairly harsh astringency, and substantial alcohol warmth.
The resiny hops and grain astringency are overwhelming. Malt character is far too sweet, and flavoring hops are somewhat lacking. Too astringent and hot for my liking.
