My first Frankenmuth Brewery hand crafted ale. Another decent beer from Michigan. I poured my 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass, small head, dark copper, and nicely carbonated. A little smell of malt, caramel and a floral note not over powering at all. The taste is a rich and complex blend of malt and hops very nice on the palate. This is a great IPA to drink on a colder Northern Michigan summer's night. Enjoy.

12oz bottle into Bruges Tulip: From notes.

A: The light tan head pours a massive three finger head and has very good retention. The body is a light hazy copper. The visible levels of carbonation moderate.

S: A nice and warm aroma of English malts and a grassy, earthy note from the hops. The aroma is very low in intensity for style.

T/M: The initial taste releases a assertive note of bready malts. The hops do have a nice level of bitterness to them, but not to dominate other aspects of the brews characters. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but the over shoot on the carbonation does not suit the style, a explosive mouthfeel takes away from other subtle flavors.

O: Overall, a nice offering, with a good take on the style, a small amount of flaws, but nothing that is too bad to hinder enjoyment.

Had on draft while visiting the brewery for the first time. Offered as one of their seasonal rotations. Served in a pint glass with a nice roughly 1 finger head and a nice looking copper/light brown color. Smelled of caramel and toffee as well as a hint of apricot. Good flavor, nice sweetness up front balanced with good hops, mildly bitter. Similar to other English IPA's that I've had brewed in Michigan(reminds me of one from Cellar Brewing in Sparta MI). Again my biggest complaint would be the lack of body in this beer which was weak at best.

A - Cloudy Brownish red with great carbonation running up the sides. Nice lacing remains after the off-white foamy head settles. Head hangs around for some time too... Looks tasty

S - Smells like a homebrew, kinda. Smells very bitter and dry. Slight malted hop. Not your typical American hop bomb.

T - Wow, quite smooth and delicious. Very little hop until after initial flavor has faded. Very balanced and methodical.

M - Very dry and even. Not over done by any means... Very good carbonation.

D - Dry and blanced makes for a good brew... Not overly impressive, but very good nonetheless.

A great brew in a great trade! Very glad I got to try this one...

Thanks Another6Pack!

This one poured out as a lightly hazy looking yellowish gold color with a white head on top. The aroma had a nice amount of hops shining through. The taste of the beer was pretty good, the hops came through pretty well and left a good light bitterness in the mouth. The mouthfeel was light and gently carbonated. Overall it was a decent IPA, I would probably pick this one up over all the other Frankenmuth's I've had.

22oz on-tap

Pours a solid orange color. Very light head with little lacing.

Earthy hops, somewhat piney with light malts. The aroma is rather faint.

Fairly mild flavor for an IPA. The hops and malts blend together preventing flavors from standing out. Earthy hops and a bit of spice are noticeable not not impressive.

Medium to thin body with good carbonation.

This falls short of what and IPA should be. The flavors are not distinct or bold and there is little bite.

A: A very dark copper or light orangish-brown in color. Forms about an inch of creamy, light tan head. Good retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Aroma is fairly muted. Lots of carbonation on the first fews whiffs, but then changes over to caramel malts, a little toast, and earthy hops.

T: Bready malts, caramel malts. Mild toffee sweetness. A blend of citrus and earthy hops on the finish. Quick finish.

M: On the lighter side of medium, but overcarbonated. Overcarbonation is prickly on the tongue. Mild bitterness.

O: A decent beer. Drinkable. But in the end, not overly exciting.
