A little tricky to get to...if you're heading north on 29, you have to bang a right at Hydraulic Rd. (and not before the light at the Kroger entrance) and then look for the sign and the driveway on the right. Very friendly, more of a wine store than a beer store as the name indicates, but good selection nonetheless. We were offered a sampling of three wines before browsing. The website says that the store is kept at 55-60 degrees to maintain freshness; I didn't have a thermometer or look at the thermostat, but it felt warmer than that to me. All the Maine Brewing Co. beers are kept in a fridge, and everything else is out on a shelf. Pretty tightly packed, so you have to do some maneuvering, especially if you're picking up more than a six-pack. Pretty solid selection of Belgians and good American craft stalwarts (Bell's, Stillwater). Some of the stock appears a bit old -- discovered a few New Belgian offerings that were about three months past their best-by date.

Great bottle shop to hit while you're headed to the airport....so I did. Inside you will see a large selection of wine and a quite a decent selection of craft beer. Immediately a young man who was quite knowledgeable about beer styles and local brews was there to help. Without a lot of room in my bags, I selected a few local IPA's to haul and try at my next city. Quite a variety of stuff from the east coast, midwest and some good names from the left coast too. Lots of bombers as well. They let me buy singles, which was awesome, highly recommend this place.

Fantastic beer selection (Belgians, various other imports, American micro-brews, etc.). The temperature is cool, which is perfect for storing beer, and which immediately tells you something about the quality of the place, and how seriously the proprietor, Matt, takes things. The entire staff is knowledgeable, though Matt, in particular, has a spectacular knowledge of most anything beer related, and is always extremely helpful. You can mix your own six-packs on most anything in the place. My favorite beer store in Charlottesville. Highly recommended.

Reviewed after about 10 visits
When I first found this place I fell in love so didn't feel it was time to write a review. However after a good number of return visits I am still enamored and really enjoy each subsequent visit just as much.
They have a large range of Belgians and a nice selection of American beers. The layout is very well done and the ability to take singles if needed is great. I'm always surprised or intrigued by something new I see in there and have yet to be disappointed. Matt is the man who does the beer ordering and is super knowledgeable. He taste's about everything that comes in the door so he can answer almost any question. They also are more than willing to order something they don't have if its in stock from the distributor.
They have tastings and also have a few food events throughout the months as well.
In general this is a great store with a nice selection and great staff to maintain it. A first and regular stop for me when looking for good beer!

Visited this place while passing through Charlottesville on our way to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We were unfortunate to get there a few minutes after they closed, which was a surprise since it was 7:30 on a Friday. Luckily, a kind employee saw us and allowed us a quick through the store.
The craft selection is off to the right with a nice selection of U.S. stuff as well as plenty of imports, especially Belgian beer. Nice showing of Drie Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, and at really nice pricing. The U.S. selection was quite impressive, as they still had Firestone Abacus and Parabola, the former of which went in a day or so in Northern Virginia. Other than that, lots of standard distribution stuff, but they had it all, so no complaints there.
All in all, I'd certainly head back to this place to pick up some Belgians as well as to see what limited-release stuff they might still have.

After 3-4 visits its time to reviews.
The atmosphere here is wine and beer store modern and one thing I like about it is that they keep the temperature inside the building very cool so that the beverages are at or close to cellar temperature. The could be a bit more careful about exposure of the beer to light, but I've seen worse.
They person who does the beer selection knows his stuff and they have a wide range of things I've wanted to buy. Most all of the beers on offer are from the best breweries, even the local stuff. (I've only spotted beer from one local brewery here and it is definitely the one I think is best.)
The staff are helpful but not pushy and willing to take time to talk, etc. On one visit bought enough that they volunteered at 10% discount.
There is a very large selection here and the beers on offer range from some of the best Belgians through the best of Britain and some first rate US craft breweries.
On the whole I've found the prices reasonable in that they are competitive with other stores that have a wide range of beers on offer, and I don't think I've ever felt I over paid on anything I bought. (Naturally I'd have liked to pay less, but who wouldn't?)
For me this is a must visit place when I have to be in C-ville for any length of time.

Wow, I was happy to find this place... although it was trickier than I expected to find. I found some beers here I couldn't find in the bunch of other places I looked in Virginia and you were able to pull singles. The man here definitely knew beer, and the atmosphere.... it was sort of like a beer exhibition with displays tastefully done yet enabled for beer exploration. One of my favorite visits to a beer store and one I will definitely visit again. Prices might have been a little higher here, but sometimes you pay that for this type of quality... although maybe the prices were fine as I am a Midwesterner, so maybe I'm spoiled in that regard.

This hidden oasis of a beverage store was only a few miles down the street from our hotel so i was pretty pumped to stumble on to it. The main knock on this place was simply physically getting into it. There is construction galore around the location and maneuvering into the somewhat hidden parking lot requires some dexterity. Once you get there you'll be rewarded with a very nice selection of delicious brews at reasonable prices. I picked up a couple of bottles of Sierra Nevada XXX, a few offerings from Caldera, 21st Amendment and Full Sail Session(love the beer and the stubby bottles) to name a few. The focus is definitely on the vino, ergo the name, but the beer is definitely worth seeking out.

Wine Warehouse is the closest place to my house to buy craft brews. The selection of beverages here is predominantly wine, and so is the knowledge of the staff, but they're very helpful and end up getting a lot of craft brews in. I've also found that they frequently will be the last place in town to have things that fly off the shelves quickly--perhaps because they're not downtown and aren't a bar? Either way, it's great to be able to have this so close. Additionally, the pricing is good--always competitive with and usually slightly better than other places in town. They're also willing to split up six packs and have quite an extensive selection of singles to begin with.
The only thing that's a little frustrating is the early closing time--I think it's 7:30? So plan ahead.

The Wine Warehouse is almost exclusively where I go to get my craft brews. It is off the beaten path in the sense that its location is unfortunately situated in a town built without the invention of the automobile in mind. PAY ATTENTION WHEN TRYING TO FIND THIS PLACE !!! The store is cramped and filled with mostly wine. Though cramped the selection is quite good and I've found their prices to comparable to other stores in the area. I'm a big fan of Belgians and IPAs and I've never been disappointed with the selection. I've heard that the "beer manager" that works there knows his stuff but I've never talked to him. All in all a good place to go in an area of limited resources.
