A – Cider colored body wit a nice white head. Low retention and lace.

S – Sweet bready notes, molasses, and orange ice-tea.

T – Tangy orange over a big, malty base. Apple buter middle into a crisp, acidic, bready finish.

M – Low carbonation, especially for the style. Medium/full body.

O – Nice malt character but not as bright or carbonated as I’d like for the style.

Pours a hazy brownish orange color whit a soft white head that fades leaving spotted lacing around the glass.

Smell is of banana, yeast, some orange

Taste is similar to the smell with wheat and biscuit notes. Lots of banana toward the end. Finish is slightly sweet and smooth. Very little carbonation and that's why I gave it a lower rating on the mouthfeel. This one has almost no carbonation and I prefer a little more. Tasty beer and I would drink it again.

Poured from a 500mL bottle into my Ayinger weizen glass.

Best before code: 881085 - (huh?).

Liquid is a cloudy light-gold/sunglow with a thin white head which recedes into a gently lacing ring surrounding an archipelago of carbonation.

Aromatics are very characteristic of the style, with prominent banana esters with hints of (in diminishing order) vanilla and honey, bubble-gum, clove and cardamom. A light wheat aroma is present as well but very subdued.

Palate is wheat, malt, a hint of citrus, more banana, wheat again, yeast, light spice. The flavors are well balanced and intermingle. Slightly sweet, then tart, then spicy, with a somewhat dry bready finish. Few if any hops. Excellent and perfectly refreshing.

Fairly creamy, though not as effervescent as hoped. Carbonation is OK, but could be higher.

A little more balance or intensity would improve things ever so slightly, but this remains an outstanding summer beer.

Had this bier from a 1/2 litre flip-top bottle.

A: A nice golden yellow, not as hazy looking as other weizens, more of a pilsner look only with more carbonation. Nice run-on sentence.
S: Bananas, bananas, and more bananas. A very inviting odor.
T: A wonderful taste, follows the smell in that is is fruity, refreshing, with no after taste. Mild carbonation compliments the fruity flavor and makes this a great taste. Not as smooth and milky as hacker-pschorr, but close.
M: No problems here.
D: Overall, this is a wonderful weizen bier. I could have this all day long.

Do yourself a favor and get a few, you will not be disappointed. Prosit!

Cloudy and dark gold in color with trickles of of white and green light coming through that made me think it resembled a wit bier. No head. Banana and clove nose. Fresh and clean attack. Mild flavor of banana and clove. Surprisingly simple and quite good. Not overdone. Traditional wheat beer qualities in and understated fashion. Different due to its straightforward simplicity. Very enjoyable and I must admit I wasn't expecting this as recently I seem to be finding disappointment with imports.

Appearance: clody golden body and creamy bright white cap. Good retention. Excellent lacing.
Small: Bready sweet with notes of clove and bananas.
Taste: Taste follows aroma, as usual. Limited phenolics of bubblegum and clove. Sweetish. Lots of wheat malt. Mild balancing bitterness. Slightly grassy and floral hops. Finishes with a very slight hint of sulphur and grassy hops amidst candyish sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and quite crisp with a standard elevated carbonation for weizen.
Drinkability: Quite nice. More flavor than quite a few. Very nicely done.

Luminescent yellow color with a tinge of orange, can't get much cloudier than this, fully opaque, pours a thick froth which swiftly releases. Banana, clove, gingerbread, apricot paste, vanilla pudding, a bit intense in the sweetness of the scents but if you dig it, you'll really dig it. Lower yet persistent carbonation helps churn up the sweetness of the same array, banana, apricot, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh whipped cream, even if in the end all that wins. Grapey too, a fruity styled beer. Long, full finish. Not a refreshing hefeweizen, a satisfying one.

Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into weizen glass.

A - Very murky yellowish brown. 2-3 fingers of head rise with decent retention but no lacing. I expected a tad more from a weizen head.

S - Wonderful full banana aroma. Some clove is present but more noticable is a soft lemony character from the wheat malt.

T - Extremely sweet banana is first on the palate with a little bit of sourness reminding me of an overripe banana. Sourness grows mid palate and the wheat takes over. The lemon flavors are in superb balance with the estery sweetness. Late palate there is the suggestion of some phenols. I don't quite pinpoint the flavor as clove but it isn't far off. More banana sweetness rounds things off.

M - On the light side of medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. A great vessel for the sweet/sour balance of this brew.

D - A great hefeweizen and one I could drink again and again. Perhaps not the most unique hefe I've had, but there is an elegant simplicity in it's balance.

A great German hefe. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy white head. Lots of banana and bubblegum/sugar in the aroma with some wheat and yeast. Taste is very smooth. More wheat than I expected, given the nose. Good balance of banana and sweetness towards the back. One of the best in this category.

Appearance is hazy light golden with a large head. Head had excellent retention. Banana and cloves dominated the smell. For the taste, banana and cloves were the biggest followed by orange/citrus and the beer itself is malty with a decent amount of carbonation. It goes down very smoothly and is a very good beer to drink and is a good refreshing drink for the summer.

Pours a hazy golden orange/ yellow color, with a huge white head that hangs around. Smells of sweet wheat and citrus. The citrus wheat taste in this beer isn't like any other I've had before. It's so much smooth and more natural tasting. Definitely some orange and maybe some peach flavors. One of the smoothest beers I've ever had as well. The texture is like cream. It goes down so easy. Ill get this whenever I can. Try it!

From swing top into weizen

Cloudy golden yellow with a fluffball white head. nice lacing

Smells of typical banana clove and yeast. malt background. mmm

Banana, clove, dough wheat. hmmmm... It finishes a little funny.
I either have an old bottle or the clove is HUGE. If you have ever put a clove in your mouth, the beer has that same bite to it.

Nice texture overall.

Aroma is strong and wheaty with a "rubbery" undertone. Color is a somewhat cloudy straw yellow, and the white head does not hang around for long. Flavor is mouth-filling, richly wheaty with a hint of citrus. Texture is very smooth and pleasant. Not complex, but refreshing and summery.

Inverted the bottle and swirled the goodness around before opening. Result is a very cloudy beer. Could smell the typical weisse aromas immediately from a couple feet away. Color is an unusual amber with brownish tan "lowlights". Sweet at first wtih those same typical weisse flavors but with lingering banana. Not too sweet. Refreshing finish. Great session beer.

Pours not very cloudy at all, instead a dark golden with a very good initial head that fades pretty quickly. Nice aromas of restrained banana, some cream, and bread. Not too heavy on the breadiness, but a nice yeasty fresh bread aroma. The taste has very pleasant tastes of bananas and cream, a bit like banana pudding, complete with the bready 'nilla wafer. Slightly sweet, but the dry, yeasty, breadiness is a restraint. Pretty soft in both flavor and in the mouth, but the touch of cream is nice and the flavor is delicious even if it is on the softer side. Not quite as cips as I like my hefes for session drinking, but I really like the different flavor of this one.

Picked up a 4-pack from Brawleys' in Charlotte for around $11. This beer poured a cloudy, pale to golden yellow wit a HUGE head. When I started pouring in a hefe glass it was all head at the start.

Smell was all bananas for me and the taste matched. I couldn't taste any hops and it was too sweet for my normal likeing. While it's a drinkable beer I would not buy again due to the banana taste and sweetness.

App - Fairly pale gold color, cloudy, wiht a monster white head that is both creamy and long lasting. This beer has the look.

Aroma - classic hefeweizen aroma, with tons of clove. Sweet aroma from the malt and lack of hops

Taste - Malty sweet initially with a clove twist. This flavor profile maintains throughout, with no distinct break at the end. Hop levels appropriately low. Finishes with a gentle clove character - quite nice.

MF - light-medium body, moderately high carbonation. Carbonation is assertive, but not overpowering and doesn't create any problems.

D'ability - A fine example of the style, and goes down way too easily on a warm day. Maybe a bit more expensive than some of the more mainstream German imports, but not sure if it is significantly better.

16.9 fl oz bottle served in a weisse glass.

L - cloudy, deep golden yellow with a big white head that stayed as a layer. Carbonation bubbles rose from the bottom of the glass all the way through.

S - earthy sweet wheat.

T - sweet wheat malt and citrus taste, well balanced.

F - medium bodied, crisp and refreshing.

D - a very drinkable hefe.

A better than average HefeWeisen. Beer poured a murky straw colour that created such a frothy head...maybe 4 fingers! Head stayed alive for quite some time, then disappeared to lace. Aroma of bananas was strong, with hints of citrus fruits. I noticed a very yeasty aftertaste...I think that was the only drawback. Other than the aftertaste, it was clean and crisp!

1 Pint, 0.9 fl oz swing-top bottle copped from Buy Rite on Oak Tree in South Plainfield...
Appearance was great - pours a very hazy, cloudy, murky, off-yellow, straw-color with a gigantic foamy and frothy head that exhibited impressive staying power before slowly dissipating and leaving behind a fine layer of lacing around the edge of the glass...
Strong aroma rendolent of wheat, yeast, ripe fruits, pineapple, and citrus...
Taste strongly paid homage to the aroma - this is the real deal in terms of an outstanding, true-to-the-style representation... Taste was very rich, thick, and creamy, bursing with ripe pears, sweet fruits, creamy cotton candy, and sugars...
Creamy, rich mouthfeel with a very good level of drinkability to match...
Highly recommended...

06/05/08- Purchased at Whole Foods in Redwood City, CA.

Presentation- 16.9oz swingtop bottle with a best by code stamped on the bottom of the back label. Poured into my Ayinger weizen glass.

Appearance- Traditional golden colored cloudy pour with a nice one inch frothy white head. Leaves nice patchy and streaky lace markings.

Smell- Mostly yeast and some powdered sugar. Really not much in the banana-clove area.

Taste- Has all the flavors of a quality hefe, but it doesn't assert itself as much as it should. Flavors are a bit muted. Has the bubble gum, banana, clove, confectioniers sugar and yeast flavors, but none are strong enough to really pull the beer together and make it top notch.

Mouthfeel- Good high carbonation level with a nice sweet aftertaste.

Drinkability- Above average hefe, but not up there with the big boys. Worth a try for sure though...and I wouldn't turn down one if offered. It is still quenching.

P- I have a thing for swing top bottles... the design is a wonderful choice to use for home brewing.

A- pours a great golden beige color with a classic cloudy appearance.

S- fruity (banana), typical of style.

T- fruity (banana) beginning with a spicy clove finish.

M- light and refreshing.

D- a great choice for those ready for winter to end and summer to start.
