Poured into a Duvel tulip. The liquid is deep cloudy golden-orange. The pour kicks up a decent-sized off-white head that fades kind of disappointingly quickly and leaves very little lace.

Aroma is quite tropical and citrusy - I get a surprising amount of oranges, mangos, papayas, grapefruit, and even pineapple. There's even a hint of some grassy dankness in there as well! It's backed by a nice light sugar-cookie maltiness. I know it says "Amsterdams Blond" on the bottle, but this smells a lot like a pale ale! Could this be my go-to European hop fix??

Wow - the fruity hop flavor comes through on the palate as well! There is a really great onslaught of mango, orange, and pineapple as soon as you take a sip, really tasting like fruit juice. The great hop flavors here explain and more than make up for the disappointing head! The malts come out mid-palate, bringing in a nice bready, sugar-cookie sweetness to compliment the hops. I do get an odd, but welcome, cardamom flavor in there as well, making the "blond" designation on the bottle less than a complete misnomer. The finish is fairly bitter, making up for an almost odd lack of bitterness mid-palate. There's an ever-so-slight hint of mustiness on the finish as well, kind of amplifying the bitterness. The aftertaste is wonderfully sweet, though, bringing in all the amazing fruit and malt flavors together as your tongue recovers from the bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied with less carbonation than most blondes, but as much carbonation as most pale ales.

Overall, this beer was a really pleasant surprise! I moved to Europe from the US a few weeks ago and have been going through severe hop withdrawal, and while this beer can't completely satisfy my desire for a straight-up hop bomb, it comes pretty close. Even aside from this being a hoppy beer for Europe, the hop flavors are amazing, and really well-integrated, and I would love it just as much if it was from an American brewery.
