Should be considered and Oasis in a desert of BUD LIGHT / Miller Light!!!! This is my old faithful whilst stuck in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. They typically have 8-10 great beers on tap. Tonight they have a limited release from SA (rustic saison) and Noble Pils....Sierra Nevada Pale, Dogfish Aprihop....two from Oskar Blues...Brooklyn Brown....and more. The food is good...may not 5-star....but very good. Its alittle pricing for J'town are...but not too bad. The service is awesome....barkeeo will give you a taster before selecting your beer. Just trust me and try it....you will not be dissappointed!

atmosphere: amazing! the bar and restaurant is so beautiful! the game room in the back is awesome (as long as the place isn't crowded)
service: the bartenders here are actually rude at times, and the bar will sometimes close as early as 10:30 pm
selection:this is a hit or a miss, the bottle selection is always awful, however the taps are constantly rotating and may often times get some gems
food: the food is...the best possible. it doesn't get better than this. order what you want...you will be satisfied!

Reasonable prices for beer that you wouldn't find on tap anywhere else in Johnstown. The food is outstanding, and the service is great too! Boulevard has a "beer bible" behind the bar so that if the bartender does not know about a certain beer on tap, they have the resources to help explain it to the customer. Great idea, really makes for a unique experience. Cozy atmosphere. Tons of deep wood hues all around the bar. you get a feeling of being all warm inside when your at this bar (may be from the beer :)) Definately stop in if you have a chance

Visited on a Sunday afternoon right after they opened.
Atmosphere: Nice U-shaped bar as soon as you walk in with some bar area tables to the right. There is also a separate bar area in the back and to the right for large parties and also where the bands play. There are separate taps for this area but these are all Macros.
Quality/selection: they had 18 taps with 3 always devoted to Macros according to our bartender. Very good selections on tap that day. Southern Tier Java Stout, Brooklyn Blunderbuss Old Ale, Troegs NN, Victory Golden Monkey just to name a few. I tried the Brooklyn Old Ale and ST Java and both were very good. Don't think they had any bottle selections as the bar area is small with no coolers but I didn't ask either.
Service: was very good. Bartender provided samples of whatever I wanted. She wasn't particularly knowledgeable when I questioned what the Brooklyn Blunderbuss was but she did look it up in a book they carry called the Beer Bible that lists all the beers descriptions. So that merits an A in my book.
Food: tried the Nacho Fries and do highly recommend these.
Value: was good. $18 for 3 quality drafts and a small Nacho Fries.
Overall: would definitely come back when in the area.

I visit the Boulevard weekly. Although Johnstown has traditionaly been a barren beer wasteland, things are looking up as the distribution and availability of good beer increases. Many bars have had trouble obtaining craft beer until the last few years and if you are looking for craft beers (on draft) in the Johnstown area, this is the place (along withthe recenlty opened Windber Hotel). The beer selection has been terrific. There are usually 4-5 rotating craft brew selections from a list of breweries that includes: Victory, DFH, Penn, Bell's, Stoudt's, Weyerbacher, Brooklyn, Troeg's, Stone, East End with the occassional appearance from other brewers. Plus, they always keep Bass, Harp, Guinness, Hoegaarden and New Castle on tap. The staff is not real beer knowledgeable but that shouldn't be a problem if you are reading a review from this site. The food is good and the service is as well. Prices are reasonable for the area too. Craft Beer is discounted Tuesday nights.

Stopped here today while on a business trip to Johnstown. A co-worker recommended and I'm glad he did. When you walk in, it's instantly a very classy atmosphere. Everything is made of wood and in good condition. The decorations are wonderful and tasteful. The bar is a U shaped wooden bar that seats about 20. The taps they have are impessive for this area, including Hop Devil as well as Penn Dark and Hoeegaarden. The service was kind of poor, but it may have been since we were there right after they opened. The selection of beers was great for this are, but shabby compared to bars in other areas. The food was absolutely delicious. We had off the lunch menu and they had a great selection of food that was all top notch. If you ever make it to Johnstwon, check this place out.

Still in work exile in Western Pennsylvania (when, oh when will this end)? This was supposed to be a 13 week stint, now it's more like 16 weeks.
The Pittsburgh area wasn't so bad, but there's not a lot goin' on, beerwise, in Johnstown. But then we stumble across the Boulevard Grill & Warehouse (with an assist from Rotsaruch).
A horseshoe shaped bar with some outlying tables, a back gaming room with some old beer memorabilia on display, a side banquet room, an outdoor eating area, and a second floor dining area that looks down upon the first floor bar. Apparently it used to be an old hotel, as they've got the original blueprints for the hotel on the walls upstairs. Pleasant, mostly wood decor throughout, with the menu describing the places that various pieces of the bar and restaurant were salvaged from. Currently 13 taps (and they're talking about putting another 3 on soon), always a Penn to be found, this time it's the Weizen, plus Anchor Steam, Stella, Hoegaarden, Guinness, Harp, Bass, Sam and then otherwise the usual suspects. "Doesn't sound like much", you say? For Johnstown, this is outstanding!!! I ain't kiddin'. Additionally, there's a small bottle selection to be found.
They've got a solid menu and the food is always very good. Soups are homemade, wraps, burgers and sandwiches are excellent, and service is friendly and prompt. Clean and well maintained. Guess where I eat lunch every day?

I was in Johnstown for an extended business trip in both May and June 2003. Although there are plenty of neighborhood taverns and bars in the Johnstown area, the selection at most establishments consists of the "ususal suspects", including Rolling Rock. Fortunately, the client I was working with, knew the choices were limited, but suggested that I give the Boulevard Grill & Warehouse (BGW) a try. It was a little bit of beer heaven in beer hell.
It's located in the southwestern part of town in a semi-commercial/residential area. Parking can be alittle problematic. When you enter, there is a large U-shaped bar area to your left and tables to your right. The "warehouse" area is in the back which contains a gameroom area, banquet room and expanded dining area. There is also a dining area upstairs and small outdoor dining area as well. The interior is primarily natural wood-finished and is very well-maintained.
The atmosphere is very friendly; both the regular costumers and the bar staff. There are only 12 beers on tap; half are the big, bad macros, but the other half are a combination of quality imports and microbrews. Penn Brewing's Hefeweizen, Hoegaarden's Wit and Anchor Steam Ale were available on draft during my visit. Pints were $3.50!! There also was a limited, but decent bottle selection. The food menue was diverse, generally well prepared and very inexpensive. I had a large rack of spare ribs with veggies and salad for $5.95!! Service was quite good as well (never had an empty pint in front of me).
