This Mellow Mushroom has a nice outdoor patio that is great for people watching as it is right beside the street. Anyone who has had Mellow Mushroom food knows that they make some solid pizzas and they didn't disappoint here. The red potato and bacon pizza is highly recommended.

They had a big tap list that had a lot of NC locals as well as some other good beers from Founders, Boulevard, etc. They've definitely got something for everyone on their tap list.

Service wasn't impressive. Our waitress knew absolutely nothing about craft beer. They had a section that said "ask about our seasonal selections" that listed about 12 breweries. I asked her about them and she said 'which one do you want to know about?'. Obviously I wanted to know about all of them, but just settled for a Boulevard Doublewide. She had know idea to answer any of my beer related questions. If you're going to have a restaurant with that much beer, your waiters & waitresses should know at least a little about beer!

Overall, its worth a stop for lunch or dinner as the pizza is great and they have plenty of beer

Stopped by during the in between lunch and dinner hour on a Wednesday a few weeks ago to check out the selection, etc.
They have a rather large tap list, but again, nothing special. They carry some of the pseudo-craft options like Blue Moon, Shock Top, etc. But they also carry a good amount of local NC brews, and South Atlantic goodies.
The atmosphere was what you would expect, bright, energetic. Kind of a college vibe...
It's an alright stop, but not worth going out of your way for. Another Asheville stop that is rather meh, as far as a craft beer destination is concerned.

We stopped here for lunch as our first stop on our visit to Asheville. It was a nice day, we sat outside, and overall had a good time.

A - Pretty typical for a MM. Large interior space (mostly empty on this day) and a really large outside seating area that has tasteful plantings and lots of division between areas. Good mix of all sorts of people too.

Q - The quality is great. Everything we tried was fresh and yummy.

S - We got great service from the beginning. Attentive, but not bothersome. Our waitress had a good knowledge of the local beers on that we didn't know.

S - Selection is good and one of the better local selections around. Some choices are more mainstream craft-ish (Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, etc.) but they can be forgiven since there are so many other good choices.

F - We split a pretzel and a pizza and both were excellent. Some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. Lots of other apps and things to choose from.

Overall this is a great place to visit. Nice place to hang out and plenty of good beer and food. Well worth a stop if you're in the area.

I've been to Mellow Mushroom in Asheville, Greenville SC and Ocean Springs, MS. They're all great, but the Asheville, NC location is still a favorites.

The tap selection is excellent and it gives me the opportunity to try out the local beers, depending on the season.

Their pizzas are darn tasty as is everything I've tried. I do recommend the mushroom house pizza.

Sitting outside on a beautiful day, sipping a few local beers and eating those addicting homemade pretzels is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Great service, great atmosphere inside and out and awesome food make this a must visit when in Asheville.

On Broadway in Asheville, dinner with ksak on Saturday night.

Atmosphere: A vibrant restaurant, both inside and out. The patios all around the outside have trellises and umbrellas, providing much needed respite from the sun. A fancy pants AVL version of Ronald McDonald sits on a bench, a popular photo op. Insude, tables, and the kitchen, a little cooler than outside but not by much.

Quality: We were quoted a 30 minute wait; it wasn't even 20 - a big plus for the 'Shroom. We sat near the gas pump - a decent spot from which to watch the comings and goings.

Service: For being a busy Saturday, we were taken care of nicely from the greeting at the waitstand to returning to retrieve my credit card (long story that I won't go into).

Selection: Ample tap list, showcasing the best of the surrounding area. I went with the Catawba Firewater IPA while ksak took the Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. Both were good and ksak's Milk Stout is on record as one of her favorites.

Food: Best pizza, no doubt. The Mellowterranean (minus, of course, olives and onions) was excellent, the tzatziki sauce adding a nice twist.

We passed a Mellow Mushroom near Lenoir Rhyne on the way home and it didn't look nearly as funky as this one.

Being the first place we hit in Asheville, NC, this place was a GREAT choice. Awesome both inside and out. While not being a hippie (anymore), the place was filled with this type of vibe and it was pleasant to be included into it. Artwork, tie die signs and t-shirts, suns above the bar, random chairs w/ graffiti branded across them, and colors that make your eyes go crazy fill the entire outside of the place. Where we were sitting, you could also watch them cook your pizza.

Everything was nice except for how the beer was presented and their menu that wasn't up to date... Not a big problem but was very annoying to keep asking what was on draft/bottle with our server. A bit tough also to just look at the tap handles considering none of them looked familiar!

Our server was just great but didn't bring out our food or last set of drinks. Hey, if I worked here, I might be hanging in the back also with fellow employees more than usual. She did know her beer though!

Couldn't ask for a better selection! Had over 60 beers on-tap and around 10 bottles. Did not know of almost ANY of the breweries on-tap so went right for it.

My lady and myself split a HOUSE SPECIAL pizza with more than enough toppings. From my picture of one of the slices, it had Pepperoni, Sausage, Ham, Bacon, Black Olives, Tomatoes, Peppers, Onions, and possibly more. The Medium was a perfect size to share AND fill up for the rest of the day!

After looking up and talking with others about the Mellow Mushroom, it turns out they have multiple locations! Will be coming back without a doubt. Such a cool place with an easy going vibe.

Best Mellow Mushroom I've ever been to, and best draft selection I found on my (admittedly brief) visit to Asheville.

I went to the MM with my wife and our two young daughters. Great place for the family (lots of flying pigs and other hanging distractions), and no shortage of distractions for the beer geeks among us...

Draft selection was very solid and locally-focused; perfect for the out-of-towner getting to know the local (WNC, NC, Carolinas, and generally the South) offerings.

Food was good and it was an all around pleasant place to be. Not the uber-beer-geek bar, but leagues above just about any family restaurant I've been to anywhere.

This is the second Mellow Mushroom location I have been to. This one was a little bit more exciting than the last one. Even though, the last one was pretty exciting. The atmosphere was bright and colorful with excellent art. My family loved it especially my daughter. It has a very comfortable but not overly done hippy feeling.

The quality is great. It seems that a lot of thought goes into the food and the selection beers. The food and beverages are served looking, smelling and tasting great. I am always happy with the quality.

Our service was super friendly. It was slow when we first got there but picked up. Ironically, she checked on us more when it got busier. It did take a long time to get our food that was the only negative but you can't blame the waitress for that. It must have been the kitchen because it was piping hot.

The selection was great. There were a lot of local beers on the menu as well as other craft brews. The menu broke them down by type of beer too which I thought was well done. I am not a hop head but the selection of IPA's were great.

Been to this particular MM a couple times now, most recently on a summer Brewgrass trip.

The outdoor patio makes this a prime spot for enjoying a beer in the warmer months...sort of a garden-patio setting. Lots of inside seating spaces with bench chairs and a large bar. Eclectic decoration with lots of natural light. Crunchy.

MM is in close competition with Barley's for best local/NC selection in town, though I think the latter tends to carry more hard-to-find items. Great representation of both WNC and other statewide micros, in addition to a nice set of widely distributed selections.

Service has always been quick and friendly. Prices typical for the area.

A very worthy stop - I'd place it second on the Asheville must-do bar list, just behind Barley's.

This was my second stop on a trip to Asheville this weekend. Location is very easy to spot right off of the main strip in downtown Asheville. Upon walking up I was greeted by the hostess and taken to a seat. The overall vibe to the location was very nice and relaxed with lots of artsy decorations around (as with all of these). They had a huge selection of locals which was nice to see as that is what I came to Asheville for. A massive number of seasonals were up on a blackboard going over the bar section. I opted to try the Pisgah IPA myself. Also ordered some food while I was there for lunch. Food was very good as was the service. I would suggest this location for a stop to have something to eat with the family plus it is less than a block away from Bruisin' Ales...
