Spent a day in the mountains with my family, and after walking around the 'historic' area of Blowing Rock, stopped in here for dinner. Sat out on the upper level patio. Good atmosphere out there, and the inside looked pleasant as well, albeit dark. The service was spot-on at this MM. This is the first non-hippy-run MM I think I have ever been to. Our order was taken speedily, and our food arrived promptly. Drinks were refilled, and beer came out fast. I knew it could happen. Not every MM had to have crappy service. I was pretty disappointed with the beer selection though. They had a couple Foothills, some Highland, some Olde Hickory, and Blue Moon. That was the extent. I ordered the OH Ruby Lager. Came out in a mason-jar which was a cool touch. As at all MMs I've been to, the food was fantastic. Never have I been disappointed by their food. I'd come back here for sure, but their tap list needs some revamping.

Stopped in w/ the fam while in Blowing Rock for the weekend. VERY disappointing beer selection compared to the other MM's I have been too (Asheville, Raleigh, Durham, Wake Forest). Beer selection was no more than what you would see at Chili's or TGIF's. There are lots of great breweries around here and throughout the state(with Asheville not being too far away), but not a single one here. Tap selection, other than BMC/Guiness/Blue Moon, had only Sierra Nevada Summer Fest.
Food was good...anytime you go to a MM, the pretzels are a must have. They were done perfectly here, and my Italian sub was awesome as well.

Visited this place three times in three days while on a trip to Blowing Rock. This is the fourth Mellow Mushroom I've been to and definitely was the smallest one. Sat at the bar the first night, had a beer and pretzels. Eight taps(Terrapin, Guinness, a few others), the only one I tried was Bell's Two Hearted(what else would you need?) Very fresh, and really excellent, Two Hearted has never tasted better, and we had it all three visits. The pretzels were outstanding. Next day my girlfriend and I had pizza, again outstanding, and pretzels the following day.
Service was friendly and very good every time. I don't know what issues other folks have had with them(actually I do understand, I have been to other MM's), but for us they were three for three on good service.
I thought prices were very reasonable for what we got, $3.50 for a pint of draft Two Hearted is hard to beat, and pizza and appetizers were reasonable as well.
I know others have had their issues with Mellow Mushroom, but I am a big fan. Never a large selection of taps, but always something outstanding. Plus a life sized statue of Elvis playing guitar, and the can collection behind the bar included a can of Billy beer and an Iron City can with a picture of Franco Harris to commemorate his induction into the Hall of Fame. What more could you ask for?

Ok so I took the family up to Boone, because well to be honest we had not been there in a while and we love the mountains. So after a long day of hiking and sightseeing we were all starving, and me being the BA I am had to take a chance to visit another stop on my list of places in the Southeast to visit, so Mellow Mushroom it is. Now I am a huge fan of this place, and you can probably tell I have been to almost all of them. This one was about average for me. The service really was not good, not as bad as some others have noted, but they just seemed pre occupied with something else. The selection of brew was nice though, well coming from SC, anywhere that has DFH on tap is nice. Also saw some
sweetwater, foothills, and A decent selection of bottles, some Chimay and some terrapins and others. Not bad. The food was a little below what I am used to for MM, not sure if they were having a bad day
or what. But it was still ok. There are not really alot of places to go when you are up here, so for selection is more then adequate. If you are in the area you could do alot worse so you might as well drop in.

While up in the mountains with the wife, I suggested we stop by here. I have been to plenty of Mellow Mushrooms and am generally pleased. Recently, I have been disappointed, however, and this one really takes the cake.
We were lucky to find a table outside, so we enjoyed the cool mountain air and cooler weather. We were greeted fairly promptly, and after that, the server was basically nonexistent. After perusing the beer list (which was completely and utterly inaccurate), I decided on Sierra Nevada IPA. The server brought out a SNPA and I politely informed her that I ordered the IPA. She said "That is the IPA". I replied that the green label clearly states pale ale. She said she would check on it for me. 10 minutes later, I went to the bar myself. The bartender told me they havent had that for a while. So I oredered a Two Hearted draft, which was delicious.
I ordered a calzone and my wife had a salad. She ordered the salad with no mushrooms and of course, it came out with plenty of mushrooms on it. We asked to send it back and a different server (our original one was MIA) responded with the following: "Why dont you just pick off the mushrooms. I mean, how hard is it to pick them off? Thats all they will do in the back anyway. They are not going to make you a new salad, they will just pick off the mushrooms. I mean, I can let them take the mushrooms off if you dont want to." WHAAAT?!?! What the hell kind of server says that? I just kept my cool and we told them to remake the salad, and this time with no olives as well.
After sitting at the table for about 45 minutes with no food, water, or beer, the food finally arrives and I just took it to go. I couldnt get out of there quick enough.
MM have had a reputation, in my experiences, of having lazy and bad servers, but this one took that to a new level. I will never step foot in this MM again!!

Located right off the main drag in downtown Blowing Rock, this joint caters mainly to the throngs of tourists that visit this area throughout the year and also a few locals. The place is small and the bar itself is small, but they more than make up for lack of space with a solid selection of quality beers. They only have 7 or 8 taps, but all the beers are craft. The only macros available are in the bottle. They had a couple of beers from DFH( Aprihop, and Indian Brown), offerings from Foothills brewing, Sweetwater, Clipper City and the ubiquitous Guinness on tap. Not stellar, but not too shabby either. I hear the food is very good also, but I didn't have a chance to try it. Between MM and Canyons right down the road, these are probably the only places in town worth visiting if you're a BA. Check it out.

Woaa, this place was crowded. Think Disney World at Christmas time crowded. Knocked atmosphere down for that. The congestion of homosapians is the only knock I have on atmosphere though.
The quality and selection of beers are good. Nice mix of local, national, and import, craft beers.
Food is also good. I highly recommend the Cazone.
Service is exceptional considering. First of all there is no way I would have these fine gentlemen and ladies jobs. They were WAY understaffed. Our waitress, bartender, tablecleaner did an excellent job and put up with more bullshit than the President on his foreign policy. My calzone came after my party had finished their food. Which was ok with me because it was on the house as a result. By the way the Calzone can feed a small army. The service was slow but still very good.
Overall I would love to visit this place again during a less crowded time. We were there on a Sunday night.

This place is easy to find. Just off of Main St. We sat upstairs which was very nice with wooden floors and a rock fireplace. The waitstaff were knowledgble about the beers. There was not a big selection but this is also not a brewpub. The menu included something for everyone. We had a pizza and a must try, pretzels. Basically breadsticks but they were very good. I about filled up on them alone. The beer is served in a pint mason jar which I think was a nice touch. If I owned a small brewpub I would want it to look much like the inside of this place. Minus all the mushroom and trippin' out decor. There was also a good sized deck to sit on but not tonight. It was about 25 up there.

Got lucky and was able to park right directly in front of the door of this place me and the group of western New Yorkers were ready to tear some food up and drink some beer so this place was it.Kinda rustic interior when you walk in a small bar to the right and the kitchen straight ahead also with an upstairs.Six or seven taps four macros Pyramid hefe weizen,Sweetwater 420 wich they were out of and Yuengling, the bottle selection saved the day for me I was able to get a Mash House Hoppy Hour IPA,Terrepin Rye,and Sweet Water Sweet Georgia Brown.Nice selection of pizzas we got the Jerk pizza with pineapple and spinach that was $20.00 holy shite! The pizza was very good and huge but $20.00.Our server was with it and was real nice so good marks there.A place I would go again had heard about this chain before and was quite good.
