Extremely pale and clear with moderate white head. Smells tart and tangy. A light, refreshing taste, just a little on the mouth-puckering side. Delightful.

Pours clear yellow with huge head. almost looks like a glass of champagne. minimal lacing.
Nose is earthy and farmhouse-like. Lemon notes and a bit meaty.
Smooth and light mouthfeel, that ends in a burst of carbonation.
Aggressive sourness gives way to a well-balanced yeasty weisse.
Finishes clean and crisp.
Very good beer. crushable, even though it is sour. solid summer choice.

Just fantastic, exactly the type of Berliner I love! Tart, light, crisp, low abv..if the price didn't hinder I would just buy a ton of this for the hot GA summer

A: Slightly hazy straw with a vigorous white foam collar that quickly disappears.
S: Citrus, lemon and faint wheat with a hint of barnyard.
T: Medium tart – comes across like an unsweetened lemonade with a touch of malt and fruitiness.
F: Champagne like carbonation, light body
O: Tamer than some Berliner Weisse, refreshing and easy to drink.

A: crystal clear; pale gold in color; 1 finger white head that receded quickly to a very thin collar; no lacing;

S: acidic; slightly lemony and fruity;

T: more acidic that sour up front; acidity fades by mid-palate and the finish is purely lemony sour; no bitterness no bread or grain;

M: light bodied; highly carbonated; moderately dry finish;

O: TART: would be more refreshing on a hot summer day than with the 3 feet of snow I'm staring at;

Not much to look at like most Berliner Weissbiers, not much head or lacing. Nice smell, you get the citrus, more of a lemon with some funk. Excellent flavor, similar to the smell, some citrus and very tart. Very low on the ABV but this would be an unbelievable summer, hot weather beer that I enjoyed very much.

Date: 10/30/14
Location: Half Time Mamaroneck
Draught/Bottle: 11.2 oz Brown Bottle
Glassware: Snifter

Appearance: One of the palest beers I've ever imbibed. Faintly yellow in color maybe some light brownish tint with almost no carbonation. No cling of any kind.
Aroma: When colder the beer keeps a fruity aroma of lemons and a touch of lactose but not nearly as tart as I'm accustomed to in Weisse beers. As the beer warms a pungent aroma of raw wheat comes to the front, even a touch raw dough like.
Taste: The Lacto sour tartness is much more prevalent in the taste and it becomes more tart then I ever expected from the smell. The raw dough, pilsner, and wheat again flavors again force themselves forward and collide with tart lemons.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with extremely high carbonation. The carbonation aides in pushing the tart flavors throughout my mouth.

Pour is pale straw yellow with a white head. Nose is husky grain, some raw doughy malts, loads of lacto, moderate lemon. Taste is lots of slightly less raw dough, light grain, wheat bread, a lot of lacto cream with a lemon punch in back. Very light body, a bit creamy and syrupy, lighter carb, faint sour finish.

A: poured into a goblet to a pale yellow that's a little hazed with a small white head that is quick to fade and leaves no lacing
S: smells of sour grapes with a little lemon
T: taste is bracingly sour with most of it being lemony with a slight grape flavor and a little wheat. swallow is creamy wheat and lingering lactic tartness
M: fairly light but avoids being watery with slightly prickly carbonation and a refreshing but slightly drying finish from the acids.
O: Clean and probably the most sour berliner I've ever tried. All previous samples have been pleasantly tart while this one is definitely in the realm of a sour. Very good but an unexpected amount of pucker.

In a snifter from a twelve ounce bottle.

A- starts with a finger-thick, fluffy, pale white foam and streaks of lace. A pale golden body with energetic carbonation shows, although this beer has a hazy quality. The head persists well and leaves a layer of lace. 4.25

S- sour, wheaty, and malty, maybe some diacetyl, and an aroma of white wine. That's an interesting turn. 3.75

T- I still get the white wine, maybe white grape juice, flavor, with some tart berry flavor and a lemony finish. There's a strong wheat quality that runs along the palate and gives the brew an earthy flavor. 3.75

M- it's plenty tart, wine-like and semi-dry on the finish. It makes the mouth pucker a bit from the acidity. 3.75

O- I enjoyed this but found some of the flavors and sensations to be slightly off. I have found many berliner weisses lately that surpass this, so the competition is getting stiffer.

A: Peachy yellow and cloudy with a apparent mother on the inside of the glass like kombucha. A finger of white head that fades fast.

S: Sour tart quality with some witbier coriander and light lemon as well as a plastic sort of funky quality. Corn and yeast as well.

T: Sour like apple cider vinegar in water, some corn, and a dough yeast quality. Tart and crisp. The coriander witbier quality is only in the background.

M: Light crisp body, with little carbonation.

O: . Not awesome, but nice to find an example in this style that is assumedly close to the original style of the beer. Bought at Bruisin’ Ales Asheville, drank at Deerfield Beach, FL.

(bottle date 2012 Sep 13 - served in a Duvel balloon)

A: head that sizzles out fast... sulfury yellow liquid with only a very faint haze (may be slightly cloudier/head-ier younger?)

S: predominantly acidic, with a slight lemony bent... marginally floral, similar but not quite as distinct as say chamomile

T: refreshingly tart, but not lip-smacking... light, chalky citrus pith... interesting grainy flavor - more like an earthy pale malt than wheat malt - flares up midway through the first few sips

M: dry and snappy crisp, with a pleasantly dainty, delicate malt body... altogether quite dry... the lacto acidity does bring a mild, livening piquancy, however, it falls fairly short of puckering

O: I enjoyed the surprising balance between lacto and malt flavors here - many domestically-produced examples seem to focus on the wild qualities and eschew malt flavors, essentially making the beers flat and dry... I could do this one again - recommended

Thanks to Frank for the extra!

Poured into a New Glarus pils glass...it was convenient, and somewhat appropriate for the style. Hazy yellow-straw color, with a small cap of fizzy white head that sank to an assertive ringlet and held there; minimal lacing. Tiny bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass. In the nose, sweet malted grains, light notes of lemon and grassy funk. The taste was crisp with a lemony tartness, slightly acidic, apple skin, cereal grains, sourdough, honey, the latter of which came out a bit more as the beer warmed, in the aroma and taste, leaving a residual sweetness in the finish. Light-bodied, crisp and enjoyable overall.

Bought at Beertopia in Omaha, NE. I believe the quote made on it was, "It will make your back teeth curl." If I misquoted, to the employee, I apologize. To all of you, whatever the saying may have been, it definitely referred to the exceptional sourness of this beer.

By any means, my back teeth... they did curl.

Pours a pale, light straw colour. A tad hazy and a quickly dissipating white head. As it calms the head reduces and goes away entirely. It almost appears a dirty, brownish in colour as well when set under the light. It doesn't look like much, but looks can be deceiving.

The smell is quite light but has a dominant presence of lemons, a mineral tone, and dried grass. There is also a touch of sourness and wet hay.

Non of this really gives a lot of warning for the taste. The taste is big! Full of all sorts of great Berliner Weisse stuff. The taste of lemons is wonderful and not too much or too little or even too sweet. It hovers in the beginning and plunges down into the back. All the while you get a rush of wet hay, a bit of funk, some pepperiness, a fair amount of bright dirtiness/earthiness, I also get this very unique raw wheat taste that punches in really close to the end and slowly dissipates. At first the raw, even damp wheat grain taste is a bit of a shock but once you become a bit more accustom to it, it makes a lot of sense with the rest of the beer and really makes it interesting.

The mouthfeel is just as refreshing as I had hoped it to be. Crisp, a bit more sour than I had pictured it being, but thats good, and very dry. Not letting the sweet tones get in the way at all. Refreshing like no ones business.

Overall, I will buy this beer again. It is fabulous and I actually appreciate the low ABV. It makes it easy just to kick back and have a beer, with a GREAT deal of flavor and complexity, and still be able to go about doing stuff without feeling a bit fuzzy.
