never had anything like this, mad respect for it now, even though i didnt want to have a second one, its entirely unique and different. fashioned as a dopple bock meets a porter, its sour and its smoked and its very earthy and intense. nearly black in color, looks more like a porter, thin bubbly tan head comes and goes. it has a winey nose, tannic and lactic, puckery, but also rather deep on the malts. i definitely get some oak and some smoke, campfire type, some dried cherry, and bitter burnt coffee. the flavor is a lot like that too, with the acidity coming on a bit like vinegar, and all on the front end, and the smoke and coffee taking up about half way through. tons of flavor here, real intense. the sourness is a nice touch on a beer like this, and the more it warms, the more i can get the german malts and the doppel aspects of this, but the scale of the sour is too high, its sharp and past tannic to vinegar at times, and its distracting and disrupting in an otherwise smooth and regal brew. the notes of dried fruit are nice, some balancing sweetness there to the smokey bitter finish. complex and distinct, i have never had a beer like this in my life. on tap at bull and bush, who has really brought in some cool guest beers of late...

Poured from 11.2 oz bottle into a goblet.
A - Huge pillowing head, never dies down. Deep dark in color. Lacing stays the
entire time.
S - Smoked malts, chocolate notes, sour notes gently tickle the nose.
T - That brett, and smokiness dominate the taste. Dark malts, and sour notes carry the day for sure.
F - Rich palate, slight sweetness, full on carbonation cleans up the oils well.
O - A real delight, malty, smoky, finely crafted.
Cheers

The beer comes in a dark brown, black color.
The aroma has roasted malt and chocolate, but then also a strong amount of Brett and funk.
The flavor follows of sweet caramel, roasted dark malts, molasses, and coffee. Then there's some yeasty notes along with a dry funky Brett finish. Light to medium body.
A quite interesting brew.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large bright brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt with loads of black chocolate notes. Taste is dominated by dry roasted malt with loads of rich black chocolates notes with very light Brett notes also noticeable. Body is full with really nice creamy texture with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed that one with nice creamy black chocolate notes but I can’t say that the Brett notes were very intense or easily identifiable.
