A classic ale. Big enough and strong enough in flavour, can be drunk cool in summer, or a bit warmer in winter.
Pours a one finger head, which recedes reasonably quickly, some lacing, though it must be said that the bottle/case variation I have had on these means that some have longer head retention than others. Pours a dark amber colour, cloudy, with usually good carbonation
Aromas of malt and some yeast, some citrus but not dominant.
Taste is what I would describe as 'Classic Coopers', well balanced, some bitterness coming though but not too much. If you swirl the sediment around it becomes sharper.
Despite the bits that inevitably float on round, mouthfeel is good and full, not too thin.
Overall, one of the best beers in Aus. Not really an English Pale Ale, tho is it?
