Our 'Pale' is naturally conditioned in the bottle or keg. This traditional Coopers brewing method produces the trademark sediment that gives our ales a distinctive, fine cloudy appearance.

This beer is a deep golden colour and pours with a generous level of foam. To unlock its full flavour potential, make sure to roll before pouring. No additives. No preservatives.

12.7 oz bottle exp date 25/07/2025 into a Becker.
L: SRM 3 Pours slightly cloudy dirty light orange with lots of churning sediment from steady carbonation, has a thin fizzy eggshell white head and edge froth, most dark sediment settles over time, light random soapy lacing.
S: Light maltings, distant apple, a subtle note of pear. Minimally expressive.
T: Has a bittersweet hop zing, very light apple, lightly floral, a trace of stone fruit in the finish, very subtle floury pastry dough. Gentle sweetness at the end and almost no aftertaste.
F: Muted sharpness/bite then a medium-light bodied feel with a rapid and dry finish.
O: A curious early Aussie craft beer that sort of has a Belgian angle to it. It has a good taste and is light plus it has a "natural" feel. It doesn't pack a punch flavor-wise but what does exist is nice, lightly floral, and refreshing. It is okay in its style.
**Next time with this beer I will attempt to leave the sediment in the bottle.

Very strong sweet malty aroma out of bottle, taste is sweeter and fruitier than your average mid strength pale ale. Little bitterness. Not as good as the sparkling ale.

One of the only Australian beers you can get in the States, it has been popular go to in Oz forever. Nice golden colour with tight white head. Bready smell. Very carbonated mouth feel and pleasant taste with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. At 4.5 ABV it is stronger than most mass produced Australian beers and not as sweet. I prefer the Sparkling Ale when I can get it but this beer has some character of its own.

2 330ml bottles into a tall glass. Dating is odd. "Best after 9/7/21" .Things are different down under.

Looks quite nice. Golden yellow body with good carbonation and a bright white head. Aroma is bready, well more doughy really. Malty, a little sweet in taste. No sign of any hop. The problem is in the finish, which is a quite unpleasant bitterness.

Purchased a bottle of this beer at the local Total Wine.

Poured into a tall pint glass. Slightly hazy yellow color with good initial head with some lace lacing. Bready smell and taste, slightly bitter finish. Decent beer but nothing to get excited about. Probably not a repeater.

Pours a cloudy light orange, 1" soapy head that levels out quickly, no lacing. Nose is yeasty and fruity, with some black pepper and earthy spice as well. Taste follows, with biggest notes estery, fruity yeast notes. Very mild bitterness on the finish, along with more black pepper and light doughiness. Mouthfeel is moderate but with crisp carbonation. Tasty, but feels much more like a Belgian pale or IPA than an English one.

Dec. 2007: 375 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Also bought at Vaaland Ølutsalg, Bryne. Bottle conditioned, sediment in bottle. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, large head. Very nice and fruity aroma, moderately spicy. The flavour has also spicy and fruity notes, slightly more rounded than their Sparkling Ale. Inspired by English (Burton-on-Trent) pale ales, but there seems also to be a "Belgian" touch here. Very nice and drinkable.

Coopers Brewery Original Pale Ale hails from the land down under. It boasts a transparent amber/straw with a white head and a sharp malty nose. The flavor profile is a mirror of the nose, and has what I describe as a 'round' flavor, with traces of hop bitterness before fading away. It's not offensive, though I don't care for it. I'm glad to have tried it, how often does one get to sample Australian beer?

Look: Hazy light orange. One finger of thick white head with good retention.

Smell: Slightly skunky hops and citrus.

Taste: Mild biscuity malt with a moderate, chemical bitterness that lingers.

Mouthfeel: A bit thin, with high carbonation.

Overall: A poor, bitter brew.

Coopers Original Pale Ale. The Original, and the best. Coopers Pale was my introduction into the pale ale scene, and the craft beer scene. Whilst not a 'craft beer' per se, it's an excellent style of the Australian Pale Ale, and has stood the test of time to not only be one of Australia's finest beers, but one of my favourites. It's my go-to when there's nothing else, because it never lets you down. This is going to be a bit biased, but it's one of my favourite beers.

Look - 5/5: Poured off tap or out of a bottle for this review, it looks great. The natural sediment in the bottle gives the beer this wonderful hazy, murky, ochre orange colour, and is as cloudy as a London summers day. The head starts off fairly nicely packed, a little soap sudsy, before dissipating into a thin foam.

Smell - 5/5: For me, it smells amazing. As mentioned earlier, it was my introductory beer into the pale ale scene, and it's kind of like that smell of home. Always brings a smile to the face. Orange, mandarin, and lemony citrus notes, a slight malt character, Smells refreshing, ready to be drunk.

Taste - 4/5: It's a common introductory beer for those entering into the pale ale scene, because it's inoffensive, and it's not going to smack you around with overly bold flavours. A nice earthy malty sweetness, with fruit notes lingering around the mouth,. The finish has a nice smooth bitterness that doesn't poke holes in the taste buds courtesy of the Pride of Ringwood hops that are more common in your Australian lagers, but compliment an Aussie Pale nicely.

Feel - 4/5: It's quite carbonated, but well balanced. Super refreshing on a hot summers day ice cold out of the esky or the fridge.

Overall - 4.5/5: Some find it boring, but as mentioned, I popped my Pale Ale cherry to this piece of, South Australian culture. It's never failed on a session, it's never failed to quench my thirst. It's bigger cousin, Coopers Sparkling Ale may have more oomph, but it's a classic easy drinking beer, that puts a smile on my dial.
