Nowhere on the label does it state that DB is code for 'diabetic beer', but that's my inkling of why this otherwise below average lager exists. The label implies that DB stands for 'dry brewed', and is dry because a double pitching of yeast and subsequent extended fermentation eliminates sugars and thus forms a dry taste. I'm reviewing this as a Euro Pale Lager for want of anything closer.
Appearance: Gold, low-medium head retention, lots of sticky lacing, low carbonation.
Smell: A bit skunky, even thought it's dated best before 11/12/05. Unfermented malt smell. Strong, unpleasant brewery odour. Not very good.
Taste: Quite refreshing, an unusual malty smell on the palate. Dry as stated, thinly malty, tolerable if you can't drink the normal stuff. An interesting taste, I guess - no chemical adjunct/sulfite taste, pretty drinkable. Tastes genuine but isn't great. Good for the macro style, but not a great beer.
Mouthfeel: A bit like a homebrew. Low gravity finish effect. Thin.
Drinkability: Not bad. If I were at a party, and diabetic, I'd get pissed on this.
