Big place with a huge tap and bottle list in the downtown area of Raleigh. Busy on a recent summer evening, even on the outdoor patio, but did not have to wait for a table. Thinned out as the night rolled on. Crowd was mostly young (there is a college right across the street) but not rowdy. Food menu was limited but satisfying. Good service; attentive but not obtrusive. Liked the vibe; tv’s and cell phones were in limited use, so conversations dominated. Would definitely return if in the area again.

As of 2/19/2020, celebrating their 25th anniversary. Keep up the good work.

The beer selection is great, they have excellent Beer Cheese Soup and the breakfast pizza on Sunday are both great choices.

I love this place! I tend to go on Mondays for Pint Night, it's very loud on these nights, which is kind of a set back. However if you go to the back room there's hardly ever many people in there so that you may enjoy your time with friends and be able to hear each other! The establishment in general is very nice, there's all sorts of plates on the wall and ceiling with random remarks from people who have drank large amounts of beer there which can be entertaining to stare at and read if you feel inclined to do so. The waitstaff is good for the amount of people they service on nights with specials. The main reason this is one of my favorite bars is because of the affordable price ($2.50 on Pint Night for most drafts) they have a great selection of beers! I haven't tried much actual food here, I've only dabbled in the appetizers a bit while with friends, but from the few things I have tried they were all acceptable, nothing spectacular-- but what do you expect from chips and dip or a pretzel with queso?

My third Flying Saucer and it's a lot like the rest. It's got a lot of open space. Decent vibe. Has a very oddly placed dart board - felt like we were in the way of the servers getting their beers from the bar but they kept saying we were fine so they were definitely nice about it. Selection was a bit disappointing actually, especially after hitting up a couple places like State of Beer and Tasty with tiny menus but impeccable choices.

Food was fine, typical flying saucer bar and pub food. It happened to be an Elvis night where they were giving out Elvis pint glasses and playing a lot of Elvis songs. Was definitely a nice touch.

Overall I feel like they could do a bit to put some more interesting things on tap here but it's definitely a nice place to stop in that near a lot of other things.

My law school daughter took me here before the 4th of July celebration, yesterday. I could have stayed the rest of the day! Well over 50 drafts and then 30 plus bottled beers . . . WOW! Excellent service. Great atmosphere with music piped in ranging from Dylan to the 80s and Carolina Beach. Can't wait to return.

2/25/17: stopped in here last week and saw Bell's Black Note for $11/bottle on the menu. My buddy and I thought this must have been a misprint, but we ordered it anyway. Two minutes later the waitress came out with two bottles of Black Note. I've never seen this beer in a store or on draught in NC, it is rare down here, and it comes and goes like a fart in the wind.

Just about my favorite place in Raleigh. Occasionally the service can be slow (still very friendly but it gets very busy or the waitresses can sometimes be... herbally infused...). I stop by just about every time I go to Raleigh. The food menu has just recently been changed, I wish they would have expanded it more and left the original menu for the Hungry Farmer. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy a cigar. The most dog-friendly place I've seen in Raleigh so far.

80 beers on tap is quite a thing to behold. I was enthused to see the nightly specials were local beers, and our bartender was prompt and attentive. Shared a light platter of meats/cheeses so I don't have much input on the food, although it looked tasty on the menu. I showed up on a weekday, and could imagine it getting quite packed on the weekends. There was also a nice patio for folks to sit or stand. Found the place by chance after pulling off the interstate, would bring a friend back, seems like a successful venture!

Interesting place to go to. It was quite busy, but we did go on a Saturday night. Loved the selection of beer and the overall atmosphere for the place. I would definitely go again due to my first experience there. However, I would go at a different time/day in order to receive better service (due only to the fact that they were packed).
