7.2% confirmed. Can acquired in Ibiza, Spain. Reviewed from notes taken April 2011. Can was served into a Guinness pint glass.

A: Pours a four finger creamy head of fair thickness and decent retention. Colour is a copper-yellow. Good head for the ABV.

Sm: Very malty, but light in strength overall.

T: A malty body with hints of barley hither and thither. Poorly built but surprisingly fairly balanced for a crappy Spanish macrolager. A bit of cream on the open is the most pleasant aspect of the beer, but the malt doesn't carry through the refreshing feel established by the cream, which is a disappointment. Way too malty. It doesn't taste like alcohol, which is impressive considering the lack of flavour.

Mf: Smooth and light. Warm from the alcohol, an unpleasant effect in the throat. If you were on the fringe of vomiting, a sip of this would surely tip you into the red zone.

Dr: Extremely cheap and high ABV, but low quality. Probably the best beer in Ibiza hands-down for getting knackered, but it's far from great. That said, of all the beers I remember having in Ibiza, this one sticks out for its (relative) drinkability. Just don't get it in the canned version; stick to the bottles.

Drank outside of Barcelona, Spain.

Immediately vinous aroma, fruity with hints of grapes. Carbonation is moderate. Taste is fruity, alcoholic, moderately sweet and very vinous. Mouthfeel is tangy, bright. Finish is low on any bitterness with a metallic note and spritzy. Harsh, intended for getting wasted. Yuck.

Bronze-copper color, with a white, quite compact foam, quite creamy, too.
Smell and taste: too strong alcohol.
7.2 ABV, but it seems even more.
At the smell some malt, almost no hop, in the nose, and as well in the mouth.
When it warms up, a strong corn note in the smell.
Alcohol, in the aftertaste, too.
Useless beer.

The colour is pale gold, the large airy head is white, and it leaves some lacing while sinking.

The smell is weak. Some notes of sweet malt (cookies) and honey.

The taste is sweet and a bit malty. French loaf, some marzipan and alcohol. The aftertaste got notes of bread and dough, alcohol and turpentine. The taste is heavy and watery at the same time.

The carbonation is medium, the bubbles are large. The liquid is a bit sticky.

Another sweet strong euro lager... It doesn't get better just because it is from Spain.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 3B). Bottle 25 cl - Batch L2812B13. AROMA: cornish aroma with some rice notes and a mild sweet background. clean lager profile with some sulphur. APPEARANCE: slight dark yellow color and translucent. thin white head with below-average retention. TASTE: initial sweet malty character with moderate bitterness and a semi-dry finish. low malty complexity. PALATE: medium-low body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a marzen wannabe without complexity.

L: Looks very clear, filtered. Deep golden color. Almost not existent head.
S: Smells kind of nice, flowery, citrusy, alcoholic with hints of caramel
T: Tastes like an average golden lager with an alcoholic boost thanks to the corn and rice adjuncts. Corn taste is kind of high which is not very pleasant. Leaves a nasty mild metallic flavor in the back of the tongue.
F: Medium-low body with low carbonation.
O: Average beer that you can find in the 7/11 in Mexico.

Had a 330 ml can. Very strong smell and taste of alcohol. At 7.2% it feels like a beer with an ABV above 10%. Not easy to drink. Good if you want to get high.

Crystal clear light amber in color. Frothy white head that subsides to a mere after thought of a head but stays throughout the session.

Not much on the nose. a hint of hops, an ever larger hint of alcohol.

Taste almost all alcohol. Keep going back to look for something else, but there's just nothing there.

Mouthfeel-rough. Just this side of hard liquor. There was nothing done to hide the 7.2% alcohol in this beer.

End result: don't bother with this beer, nor any other "Damm" beer for that matter. They're all terrible.

Girlfrend brought this back from Barcelona. Kind of excited to drink a Märzenbier so I'm opening this one first out of the whole haul.

A- Very nice looking bottle. Crystal clear gold with TONS of bubbles rising throughout. Almost makes it look heterogenous. Good retention of the greyish head. Good amount of lacing.

S- Awww. Smells skunked and corny right from the bottle. Poured into SA perfect glass. Very sweet artificial caramel which kindof smells nice but just not right. Some dusty alcohol.

T- Skunkiness seems to have dissipated. Nice caramel maltiness which ends up better than what the smell hinted. Couldn't find the bitterness in the first few sips but it ended up growing and tasting a bit nasty and artificial. The subtle hop touch adds a lemony character. Alcohol is a little solventy. The bitterness really sticks around the back of the throat like something you shouldn't be ingesting.

M- Very smooth. Low carbonation (did it all leave in the pour?) Not dry.

O- Had this straight out the fridge but it still tasted kind of dirty. I'm not sure I could drink very much of this.

33cl can poured into a stein

beer pours a two finger head, quickly dissipating to half a finger with no lacing. beer is a nice light amber/almost orange color. looks pretty nice

aromas of some light malts, alcohol, corn (though made with rice), and perhaps some hops

quite sweet, definite alcohol presence, a bit stronger hop presence than in the aroma, which gives it a lemony characteristic, but perhaps more like lemon dish soap than a real lemon.

overall, a nice change and better than most Spanish attempts, but fairly harsh overall. despite the 7.2%, it could hardly be considered an economical drunk, as it commands a premium price.

finally, a semi-comical semantic note: the can says "cerveza extra," which in context means "premium beer," but the english translation is simply "extra beer." gotta love that engrish.

Enjoyed many times. Amber color, crystal clear appearance. White froth, brief crown. Sweet, sugary, mildy toasted, adjunct cereal & spicy aromas. Malty, harsh alcoholic & bitter upfront. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Honey & spicy notes. Herbal sweet/bitter finish. ABV is well felt.

33cl Green can, brought back from Majorca by my daughter and her husband, one of three different beers from this brewery.

Best before May 2011 it was drank and reviewed mid Nov 2010. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed glass tulip.

Looked good, copper body of clear beer, on top a large foaming head of a light tan/creamy colour. Some good lacing as the beer sank.

Malt sweetness in the nose, molasses/treacle/toffee, nice.

I tend to go for maltier beers more than the hoppier ones, but this was over the top malty even for me. It was a harsh tasting malt with a really dry and metallic aftertaste. I don't think it was hop bitterness, but I suppose it could have been, anyway I didn't like it. The alcohol was also 'in your face' from start to finish, not a pleasant drink in my eyes what so ever.

Strange beer, and not one I'd try again in a hurry. Looks and smells really good, pity about the rest.

250ml bottle as a gift from Salou, Spain:
Clear amber colour with a thin lacing for a head that is slightly foamy and white in colour.

Sweet with some sticky malts & caramel. There is a lager type aroma coupled with hint of alcohol, some hops & spice.

Caramel & lots of malts, sweet with toffee & a light alcohol taste with subtle fruits as well. The taste is fairly basic but drinkable.

Sweet with a sticky mouthfeel and with a fairly thick body and medium carbonation that proceeds a dry finish.

Malt driven beer (obviously) with a strong caramel taste with some alcohol present throughout. Drinkable but not all that great and another reason why I'm not really a fan of this style of beer.
