During a recent visit to Bogota I had a chance to visit Palos De Moguer. The bar itself is ok...had some neat things on the wall. The beer selection was limited...basically Colon on draft and local bottled beer. The service was great...very attentive. The food was pretty good...I had some type of pastry that had meat and chicken in it was guacamole and salsa. Overall the value was reasonable...wasnt overlly expensive. The Colon beer was decent....similar to average micro here in the United States.

'06 re inauguration review:
Palos 82 reopened its doors recently to a whole other atmosphere than was originally destined for this joint. lets face it, the previous palos was probably built years ago and the atmosphere must have been adequate for bouncing around to the beat of hombres G but what was left of that '92ish frenzy was a run down canteen with poor service and worse beers.
The palos nowadays took advantage of its location, finally, to build a yuppy place right in the middle of yuppyland - la T, the posh area of bogotá. was it cause or consequence of "the Beer Lounge" over in the 93rd? i don't know, but this place is posh, smooth and friendly. it's got a nice corner terrace facing the 82nd and the 12th where you can visualise everything happening from the andino. the inner design, with modern lighting and a very sassy inner setting makes it appealing to the passerby as classy for the one within. second floor is definetly and asset.
but the biggest advantage here above any other beer bar in the area? space. you can actually sit at your own table. you do not touch, rub against, smoke over or whatever on someone else. comfy seats, too, unlike the Bogota Beer Company. bam. look at me bashing them for once.
You've gotta credit the service. they're swift and friendly. my exchange with them wasn't much but we clearly felt well served here.
Selection remains poor, the beers are not fantastic but they're not bad. three or four baseline beers, but this particular palos' new focus seems to be bent on attracting a more sophisticated crowd than round-the-corner bogota beer company, so the gross of its offerings are drinks properly said. bad news for the beer world you may say, but i reckon as long as they keep brewing and somehow luring the crowd i'm fine with it.
The food at palos has always been greatly commendable, very worthwhile eating.
In the end this turned out to be a very pleasant impromptu visit I had yesterday. the new establishment fits right in with the district and deserves to be visited- if for a beer, or for another drink, really.
