From my 1980's beer log:

Appearance: was golden and clear in color

Head: full head

Aroma: Had a grainy, fruity aroma

Taste: some hop and fruit notes.

Aftertaste: Mild and dry.

Overall a decent lager which was moderately priced at the time, wspecially for an import.

A clear deep gold body is capped by a short lived head of white foam. Little retention. The nose is malty. It's medium-light bodied with a very fine, natural carbonation. Smooth. Malt character dominates the flavor with only background hops. Well balanced firm bitterness. Similar to their "brown" but with no dark malt character. Overall, a decent Euro-pils.

Pretty middle-of-the-road Euro-lager. Nice and light, with some spritzy citric maltyness. Some red delicious apple and grape notes. A touch of brown or unrefined raw sugar flavor lurks in the malt profile, rather interesting but one-dimensional. Not as refined in character as many of its peers, which is a plus here. Pleasant and drinkable, but not memorable.

Swinckels Volmaakt written on the label. Clear glass bottle at a mexican restaurant, happy to see something else than Corona and Salitos Tequila. Poured into its original glass. Nice golden yellow colour with two fingers of white thick head on top of it. Lots of activity in the glass. Looks promising.
Aroma of hops, nothing to write back home too though.
Taste is much beter, nice bitterness even from the begining with lots of hops.
Thin to medium on the body, average carbonation.
After it was brought to my table, I checked for the brewer here, and when I saw Bavaria, in combination with the clear glass bottle, I was afraid it would be another boring pils, but I was pleasantly surprised. Quite good.

Wow! another crappy beer by one of those breweries you wonder how they still make it.

Pours your average mediocre macro but with a spin- no head at all! terribly mediocre and weak smell that doesnt invite anyone at all.

The taste, of a somewhat pilsner wannabe that fails in the attempt is simply plagued with the ordinary and, yes, uninteresting taste of bavaria's growing variety of crap lagers. Evolve already.

This is really one of the better quality beers Holland has to offer when you talk about euro pale lager.

I drank this beer on tap in a hotel in the south of Holland. Got the beer in its original glass. Nice somewhat darker yellow fluid with a thich and creamy head. Good smell with nice hops and bread.

The taste is good and i would almost say very good...but the taste is a bit too sweet. If you like the sweetness it's ok. Goood beer.

Not sure if I'm reviewing the same beer here...
Swinkels Volmaakt is a non pasteurized beer from the Bavaria brewery. Bottles are bought in the shop from a fridge. Needs to be cooled to avoid microbial growth. ABV is 5.5%

A: Poured into my Jopen glass. A medium yellow color. I would say a little more tan than a regular pilsener. Small white head that doesn't last long.

S: Grains, hops and some wel hidden sweetness.

T: Like a regular pilsener but then with a rather impressive soft taste/aftertaste again a little sweetness. Like grape sugars I would say.

M: Good mouthfeel for a summer beer. Medium/high carbonation.

D: Clearly different from a pasteurized pilsener. Personal favorite of my father in law who's in favor of light and smooth beers. This one we will share on many occasions.
