440ml can

Pours with yellow body, decent foamy head

Smell is lacking, a few malty hints but generally bland and uninspiring

Taste is malty, dryness in the mouth, sweet malty flavours and a few esters, strong alcohol kick

Strong lagers like this are generally cheap and for getting as pissed as quickly as possible, not very nice but not terrible

Yikes, way too sweet and the alcohol shows too much, bloody god damn awful, i took about 2 sips, before ouring the rest down the sink, one of the worst beers you'll ever have, no joke.

500ml can, the kind found in the import section of every liquor store in town.

This beer pours a clear medium golden yellow colour, with two fingers of cushioned foamy off-white head, which leaves some decent awkwardly webbed lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of warm, almost bready white grain, doctored corn syrup, metallic fusel alcohol, and quite acrid stewed vegetal, grassy hops. The taste is sugary sweet pale grain, rice-like syrup, gasohol, and egregiously stanky dead grassy hops.

The carbonation is fairly low, with just a pithy, wan frothiness, the body a seemingly sugar-boosted medium-light weight, and smooth, I suppose, but also verging on the sickly cloying. It finishes replete with sweet grain and industrial effluent alcohol.

As is by now probably blindingly obvious, the elevated ABV here isn't very well integrated, rendering a pretty hot lager beer experience - not a good thing. This is a favourite, from what I can tell, even at my local bottleshop, amongst the more shabbily attired, single brand purchasers of note. I can see why, given its relatively inexpensive shelf tag, and overall oomph - all fine, as long as your taste buds take a sick day. Oh - and this is still markedly better than anything Minhas puts out around here.

Gold with a blanket of wet, milky foam. This honestly looks as though it could be a quality lager.
The aroma is lightly sulfuric, then leans heavily towards creamed corn as it gains any sort of warmth at all.
Begins sweet, with grain, vanilla-extract, and honey. They float, unattached for a moment, then latch onto a variety of vegetal hues. Can after can of cream corn...the nose doesn't lie. Light asparagus bitterness on the finish. Bland otherwise. No malt structure. No hop structure. And despite its strength, no particular alcohol structure. On the lips it leaves a lightly sweetened, powdered-sugar corn film.
It begins as a vapid, empty mess of a body, then it settles into a frothier liquid. Still void of construction. but possessing texture.
What this has going for it is a hidden booze quotient.
Drinkable. sort of, but it is merely a small step up from some U.S. renditions of completely adjuncted, cheapo piss...errr...malt liquor..

The Beer Store find. This is a pale Euro lager with extra diesel fuel alcohol. Pours light with generous white bubbled head. Some alcohol in aroma. Thin mouthfeel, not much in taste, just enough malt, and some apple juice to swallow a decent sample. Rest drain poured.

Appearance: Inch head reducing to a film of foam. Golden straw that is clear. Moderate fizzing.

Smell: Not a strong smell, nothing chemical. Slight malty smell.

Taste: Slight sweetness and a strong but not over-powering alcohol taste. A bit of bitterness mostly countering the alcohol and sweetness. Some maltiness also.

Mouthfeel: Moderate lightness become creamy in the mouth.

Drinkability: Not bad. Rochefort beats this of course. Didn't detect any chemical overtones. Perhaps they have process control issues.

Pours amber with a quickly fading head.
Nose shows hay, sweet clean malt, spicy hops, vegetal notes. Some industrial booze too.
Similar flavours, quite sweet with some booze and vegetal notes. Not much going on.
Needs more carbonation.
Could be worse...

This one poured a very clear, golden yellow. A big fizzy white head was initially present but faded down to reveal nothing more then a thin layer of film like lace on the top. Lots of visible carbonation came streaming up from the bottom of the glass, and it left a tiny bit of residual lace on the sides of the glass.

The smell was light, nice grain and yeasty bread like smell mixed in with some kinda light fruit, maybe some banana, and a touch of alcohol, but it was pretty standard lager. The taste was like a really strong budweiser. It tasted like your standard fare macro lager, buch just stronger. Typical grain adn yeast, maybe some corn in the flavor. A touch of alcohol. very smooth, and clean. Non lingering aftertaste. This was a very sessionable beer. Went down easy and you didnt really feel how strong it was, a dangerous combo. Best served really cold in my opinion.

Overall I was a bit underimpressed with this as a specialty beer, but as a macro lager, I was quite pleased.

This Bavaria 8.6 special blond beer looked like a good choice. Nice bottle, not a screaming, but a serious label. Bavaria has a long tradition.
A: golden, allmost orange, clear, flaky head, very low on the bubbles.
S: bread, sweet grains, rather obvious alcohol.
T: Low on sweet fruits and again grains, only a little hops... too simple to mask the alcohol (even though it's 'only' 7.9%)
All in all, this is rather ordinary for a 'special' beer.
Plus: I fear this beer could give you a headache before the end of the evening, if you try more than 1 bottle.

Pours a crystal clear golden color with a decent amount of bubbly white head that sticks around for a while. Smells like an empty glass. Tastes fairly sweet, but not malty. Hard to describe, nondescript sweetness, I guess. No hop flavor to speak of. There is some alcohol burn there, but that's to be expected. Mouthfeel is watery and... that's about it. I swear, budweiser has more flavor than this beer. There's nothing to it at all. Overall, it's drinkable, because there's no flavor to object to. I prefer my beer to taste like beer, though. This seems to be for pretentious college kids that want to get hammered fast.

This would make a great beer to threaten someone with, or to get back at them (simply offer them one). Poured from a 500 ml can, freshness date on the bottom. It looks harmless enough, nice clear golden body, good head that forms a cap and some decent lacing. Smells like cotton candy however. Flavour is indescribably bad, really, I lack the vocabulary to even begin, as I've never had anything quite this awful, no sounding board to compare it to. I'm honestly going to have to pour this one out, I feel dirty on the inside already. Beware of Bavaria 8.6, consider yourself warned.

Musty smell of old cellar and the old nose with ripe fruit and macerated in alcohol too. A very hot mouth with alcohol in abundance in the aftertaste which is reminiscent of the liquor or white wine rich in sugars and highly concentrated. Easily digestible and easy to drink little, even if it sits right in terms of tasting.

Poured a light copper hue with a quarter finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and very good sticky lacing.

The smell featured a light caramel malt with some green apple aroma.

The taste consisted of an upfront light caramel sweetness with a quickly arriving warming alcohol. Not enough body to support the high ABV however.

The mouthfeel was overly sweet with a distasteful alcohol burn.

Overall not very good. But for Euro 1.30 not a bad bag.
