From the 750ml bottle in a snifter. This mighty fine ale pours a
chill hazed light amber color with a nice head of white foam that subsides
to a thick ring, thin light layer, and displays some nice sudsy lacing. Nose of
candy sugars, mandarin oranges, light breaded malts, and subtle Belgian spice
of clove and coriander. Flavors follow the nose with a light yeasty bread note
awash in sweet candy sugars and lightly touched with mandarin orange and
apricot along with a touch of pear. Light herbal notes of coriander and a touch
of clove come on the middle to rear of the palate with touches of lemon
zest and orange zest with a touch of light cracker. Nice mouth feel; medium
light body, smooth, medium lightly fluffy and effervescent carbonation that
gives nice lift, and a sweet yet moderately dry herbal touched finish.
An excellent example of Belgium's fine craft.
Cheers!

In some ways a standard tripel, the smell features belgian spices and yeasts, along with booze. But in the other ways it gives off more of a dark ale with the heavier feel, and the more savory flavors in the taste. Very peppery, biscuity, and herbal in the finish, but there is plenty of sweet dark fruit, candi sugar and honey to balance at foretaste. So overall ok but bot one of my favorite tripels

750 ml bottle, capped not corked, served lightly aged and lightly chilled. I like the sleepy moon fellow on the label.
Dark colored for a Tripel, especially one of its not particularly high ABV. Decent fizz and a little wispy head.
Smells yeasty and fruity with some pleasant spice. Pears and apples and cloves. Not particularly strong for the style, but lively enough and with no off nodes whatsoever.
Tastes very good--clean, fruity, spicy. Honey and pears up front, yeast and clove in the middle, and a clean finish with just a hint of white pepper, all propped up by an excellent body.
It's basically everything I look for in a trippel, even if it doesn't hit the very high notes of my favorite examples of the style. Well worth the price.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a hazy, medium orange amber with a big three finger white head with great retention and lots of thick lacing. Aroma of lightly bready candi malt, light stone fruit, orange, Belgian yeast, mild clove; a little oxidation. Flavor is dry candi malt, apricot and peach, light orange and lemon, developing a strong coriander and clove bitterness and finishing spicy and bitter with citrus rind and oxidized light stone fruit. Medium bodied with sharp, peppery carbonation. Starts with a classic tripel profile of fruit and spices, but ends a little stark and uneven. If I'm reading the date of the cap right, this bottle may be a couple of years old and that could explain the odd finish. This is particularly ironic, because I picked this up this week with the intention of properly reviewing this brewery because I never kept my original brief review from a decade ago (of the Christmas version of this ale) because the store I bought it at was notorious for having old bottles of uncertain storage. This time, the age of the bottle is certainly due to the distributor, who also has the notoriety of sending old beer to the West Coast. Drinkable and true to style, but not really up to snuff for a classic Belgian tripel. Good enough that if I found it on tap or bottled of certain recent vintage, I'd try it again. Alas. It looked great and the aroma and taste were good, but affected by oxidation in not a good way.

Not sure about this Tripel. Tastes very different to what I'm used to. Darker, less sweet and with yeast flavors that I'm not used to in Tripels. Can't tell when it was bottled and whether the flavors I'm detecting are intentional or the product of a prolonged wait on the shelves. It tastes a lot more like a very uncomplicated Strong Ale than a Tripel.

From a tall, 750 ml bottle, this brew is a golden color. Almost bronze, clear and relatively still, capped with a soapy white foam. The aroma is malty, spicy, with a Belgian yeast. The taste is warming, full, and robust. This is a solid beer.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.
Muted orange, slightly hinting at haze but with a nice classic middle column of carbonation. Rocking head, off white, a bit tinged yellow with creamy top and a solid three fingers off the pour. Nice settling down to a good finger, with big retention.
Classic tripel aroma. Slightly bready and honey sweet malts, with a good fruity and somewhat spicy phenolic kick. Hints a little warm, some good earthy hop tones slightly as well. Very inviting with low sensing sucrose sweetness.
First sip is a silky and rich mouthfeel with a touch of spicy carbonation. Creamy flavors of honey and sugar roll of the tongue in the mid palate. Slight caramel sweetness is added with some fruity tones and a bit of pine like bitterness that adds a nice contrast, and cuts on the aftertaste. Dense. Almost rich tasting, but manages to dial it down a bit.
A very solid tripel and memorable, with a bit of an iteresting malt presence as well.
