Well, i guess its OK. Sweet and grainy, with some hops (grassy) in the finish, which help to dry it out a touch. Pretty boring in the end, very soft andwatery. Lightly crisp towards the end. I only hope the Dreher Bak is better, too generic Euro-lagery in taste for me, but it is definitely better than some.

Poured pal gold, aroma a thin mix of malts and grassy hops, but not unpleasant. Had this three times in various bars while in Budapest, and thought this was one of the better ones produced locally. Not too gassy, fair texture and refreshing, some very slight sweetness from the malts and not as 'acid' from high cardonation as many local mass produced Euro-lagers.
Whilst I would not buy this to take home if I saw it, would enjoy it while in Budapest again!

5.5% abv. Pours a clear, straw gold body with rising streams of tiny bubbles that support a short head of densely creamy bright-white foam. The head holds OK before dropping to a thin creamy collar and some minor surface foam; and it also leaves some nice lace throughout the glass. The aroma expresses sweet malt with a touch of lightly spicy and floral hops. The body is medium/light with a fine, median carbonation that leaves it crisp in the mouth. The flavor displays a well-balanced combination of sweet malt and spicy/floral hop flavor that's backed by firm bitterness. It finishes with a note of sweet malt that quickly receeds to dryness. A decent and straight-forward interpretation of the Pilsener style that lacks a bit of the finesse of the great ones.

The Dreher is similar to most well made Euro lagers....the beer poured a clear golden with initial foamy head that eventually settles to a thin white head which is leaving some lace. The scent is mostly grassy / wet corn. The taste is very crisp and clean with a slight abv presence. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a easy going beer that is worth a taste.

A: Thin gold with a healthy fluffy head. Little rising carbonation.
S: Slightly metallic malt, light in scent.
T: Very mild but pleasant flavor. Subtle honey malt with a bitter hop bite.
M: Very nice carbonation sting, moderately astringent but not in a negative way.
D: Great for this type of beer. But reading the other reviews, perhaps it had something to do with coming from the tap.

Thanks to my family for bringing this green bottle back from Budapest. No thanks to Dreher for using the damn green bottle. Several minutes after pouring, the skunk receded however. What remained was a classic, clean Euro lager that reminded me of Poland's Zywiec or any other popular lager. The malt was lightly bready and there was no hint of hops. The yeast left a faint impression of white grape juice. All in all drinkable and refreshing, but nothing more.

Light golden colour, clear, glassy appereance with a fast disappearing, soft foam.
Characteristic smell: stinging, bitter, spicy.
Taste is dominated by the hop, just a little corny. Well-carbonated, refreshing and easy to drink.
After-taste lasts for a long time, with the mannish felling of hop.
A quite good pils-like lager.

Good color, excellent head, some decent lacing, some possible wheat smell (that doesn't mean necessarily there is wheat used in the beer. I am not sure doubt it.) on the nose and very faint citrus, but it has that sweet fakeness and felt some sweet possible corn-like taste also in the palate to myself. Decent lacing, not too carbonated either there was some hop finish but very faint. For a macro produced beer this was actually ok, and it's also quite cheap. Drinkable yes, but I wouldn't say I desire it or would want to have it again.
Interesting reading other reviews who said their head disappeared instantly, mine seemed to stick around pretty good. I had it served to me in Budapest.
Dreher Classic is a typical mirror-clean pilsner of golden colour as described on its website.

Hand-carried from Budapest to Vienna (thanks, Bob), the tall green bottle with stout shoulders bears a green and gold label with a coat of arms above and some medals below the name. As my Hungarian is non-existent, no idea about ingredients. Best before 4/28/07, I opened it on 1/26/07.
Pours a clear bubbly medium gold under a one finger white head that fades quickly, leaving a couple of spots and strings of lace. The nose is strong of pungent sulfur, quite unappealling. The mouth is light and painfully prickly. The opening taste is slightly sour, followed by strong metallic hops and the essence of bad cabbage. A bit of bitterness lingers in the aftertaste, but it is mild and short-lived. There's really not much to enjoy here.

I had this pilsner on a recent trip to budapest and it made me miss the the Czech Pils that I've become so accustomed to. Pours a straw yellow, with a medium to large head. The head dissolved quickly leaving little lacing.
Nose is pretty minor, just a touch of sweetness and a little sulfer.
Flavor is weak and poor. Comes in with a weak watery malt. The hops hit in the back of the mouth to balance it out. Neither of the flavors is especially strong or pleasant.
Feel in the mouth is itchy and watery. Managed to feel bland and burn the mouth at the same time.
Not a very impressive beer, but one of the cheapest and most common in Budapest.

Bought in Budapest
A: Pours a light golden body with one finger of foamy white head. Retention is minimal as is lacing.
S: Light notes of straw grains and some breadiness.
T: Some bread, non pleasing straw flavour.
M: Light bodied with high carbonation, mouthfeel is very froathy and leaves a bad straw taste that doesn't leave.
O: I wouldn't buy this again, it was not very enjoyable.

500 ml bottle from Budapest
Pours pale golden with rich head that recedes rather quickly and leaves decent lacing. Some carbonation bubbles rising.Aroma is weak malty with even weaker lemon, not much in it. Taste is sweetish and watery malt with somewhat sour metallic aftertaste.
Although I ocassionally drink this beer on tap, as there is almost no choice in many pubs in Budapest, this bottle seemed even a bit worse.

Pours a clear, golden color with lots of bubbles and a generous white head that soon settles down to only a small cover.
Typical, generic aroma of malts and grains is subtle but easily picked up.
The taste starts on the sweet side and continues with a nicely balanced body. All of that coming together for a nice bitter finish and a pleasant lasting aftertaste.
Very nice beer from Hungary.
