Has the Yank Pale wheat ale look. Grapefuit juice with a splash of coke. Very hazy with a very robust white head.

Wheat malts have a difficult time with all the spicy, citrus, and musty aop aromas this beer presents to the nose.

Sharp bite in the front. Citic sourness and musty graininess with slightly spicy hop. Finish quite dry and bitter like grapefruit rind.

Loads of fizzines, still fairly smooth.

Too many competing flavours that don't really work in this case. Some may find it refreshing.

500ml, standard sleek bottle from this brewery. Is it just me or is it too soon still for anything "Imperial" to come from the land of the Rising Sun...

This beer pours a cloudy pale golden colour, with a teeming, thinly effervescent white head, which foams up, and stays there, eventually coming down to reveal some sparse splatters of lace circumnavigating the glass. It smells of spicy, yeasty fruit, citrus, mostly, and some mild funk. The taste is still big on the fruit, some tropical essence adding to the lemon citrus, a zippy wheat graininess, and musty hoppiness. The carbonation is understandably sedate after that opening number, the body on the light side of medium, smooth, but with a tugging dryness, which delves right into the dry, bitter, leafy hop finish.

A nice Belgian-style wheat ale, gone further East with the Ise Kadoya house yeast. Dry and fruity, I wouldn't mind seeing this on a sunny summer patio.

Thanks to Jim at Sherbrooke for this one. From a tall Euro 500 ml brown bottle. Just a massive wall of foam on the first pour attempt into a Weizen glass. Tall foamy merrengue-like white head with excellent retention. The body is hazy gold in colour.

Dry musty grains on the nose, some earthy funk, some sharp citrus and dry spicy earthy hops. Reminds me of a Saison.

Flavour is brisk and dry at the same time, fruity esters seem to duke it out with spicy hops and phenols at first, but after a few sips it rounds out a bit more. Sharp citrus lemon rind up front with musty grains, finishing with spicy earthy hops, very dry finish.

Medium-bodied, light slick texture with assertive carbonation.

Challenging and quenching at the same time, seems to me there is too much going on here to really pull together in a cohesive manner. Has the characteristic mustiness of Ise Kadoya beers, and that slight sour tinge that seems to denote the house yeast. Would make a decent contender as a Saison, I'm almost tempted to list is as that.

A- A big airy bright white head atop a cloudy golden body. Head retention is average, some lacing left behind.

S- This reminded me of a Belgian beer as soon as I popped the cap, perhaps a Belgian Pale. Loads of spice in this! Banana & fruit notes from the yeast.

T- Flavor mainly consists of spice & fruit. Bitter zesty dry finish.

M- The mouthfeel is ok, the body feels a little heavier than a wheat ale should be and the carbonation is a bit to high.

D- Very unexpected, never would of guessed this to be a wheat ale.
