Initially impressive with the swing top gasket cork style bottle, a thick creamy layer of head and beautiful pale body, the smell breaks down the image that Grolsch offers. Smelling strongly of chemicals, and macro, it was an immediate let down.
Grolsch actually produces two beers under their premium lager brand, those with bottle caps are actually brewed by Coors and relabled, while the swing tops are brewed in the Enschede. I had tried the Coors relabled Grolsch by accident, and decided to give the real stuff another go.
The taste itself was far from impressive, light and a little refreshing with a halfway descent spicyness to the character. Unfortunately the mouth feel, initial and after taste were that of a macro brew. Very watery with astringent flavors.
Unfortunately I can't say much for this beer positive for this beer, very little character, very little body, and the bad astringent taste of a macro.
