started buying this just for the bottles.
one night (tonight) decided to give it a review.
A poured from the 16 oz bottle into my goblet. just a little bit darker than pale straw. this pours super clear and visually almost flat. The evervescent head makes me think of ginger ale. settles down to almost nothing super quick, leaving no lacing at all.
S a bit on the skunky side. not much maltiness at all (at least to the nose)
T Just a touch of hoppiness here, and not much else.
M: the carbonation is very apparent in the mouthfeel. leaves a slightly "stale" aftertast of the off-hops. cant detect the alcohol at all.
D: well all in all this is not very remarkable.
what I CAN say for Grolsch is the bottle does well for homebrew. this is pretty expensive beer - they charge premium beer prices for only a FOUR pack of 16 oz bottles. But the swingtop bottles are almost as expensive at my homebrewer's supply store as empty bottles. So from that point of view this is free beer. because of that reason (and ONLY that reason) I will continue to buy this until I have enough bottles....and after that I will probably continue to buy more bottles with Grolsch because when I give people brew only about half of them return the bottle.
all that above reflects BUYabilty not DRINKablity. This isn't very good at all but at least it's better than the rice-based macros.
