Brilliant straw color. White 2 finger head, dead in 2 minutes, subtle activity with average legs.

Faint corn, fruity, skunky and metallic aromas and flavors. Well balanced between sweet and bitter, but almost tasteless.

Light slick body with nice carbonation. Pleasant well balanced bitter finish ending with smoky skunk feel. Very acid.

Overall : Well balanced beer with good freshness but way too bland in flavors.

It's a lager, so it's not meant to be strong; however, I believe they put more on the bottle than they do in their ingredients. Could be better. Such a cool bottle deserves a better beer

Mild maltyness in both aroma and taste. Crystal clear bright yello appearence. However over all pretty boring average lager.

I really like this beer, especially in the bottle with the flip top cap!

Serving type: bottle 30 cl.

L - The green bottle is one of my favorites. Somehow the green adds to the freshness.

S - Malty and hints of grass and hop.

T - The beer is pleasant bitter and the aftertaste is like fruit in your mouth. It is very satisfying and when i wound op drinking nearly half a bucket last August during an afternoon, i didn't mind at all.

M - The mouth feel is slightly on the watery side.

O - Grolsch Premium Lager is a great pick when you are in Holland, it is very reminiscent of German beers and according to some it is brewed by the German purity law.

I have reviewed a few lagers under a different account and I have to say i'm unimpressed. It's possible the ingredients are of higher quality but the finished product has a mediocrity that matches U.S. macro lagers. A bit more honey than vegetable in the flavor and more skunk/ sulfur on the nose. However it is very quaffable and refreshing and sets it's own standards. Good not great. But great bonus swing top for homebrew!

I find it a very nice lager. Refreshing and a cheaper option than any other special beer (1,1 eur). I like and enjoyt it! Bottles are indeed very useful :-)

Serving Type: 450 mL Swing Top bottle

While I don't typically go for mass marketed Euro Lagers, the Swing Top bottle was just too cool not to buy!

A- Pours clear, clean, and golden typical to the style. 1 1/2 finger of white head that quickly dissipated. No lacing.

S- Like most green bottled beers I've had, the smell of this one was not great. Skunky with a slight corn sweetness similar to what you would find in a Budweiser.

T- Corn-like sweetness that is mostly overpowered by the skunkiness. Mild (and I mean mild) hop profile.

M- Medium carbonation with a fairly weak body.

O- While not great, Grolsch is certainly better than your average American Adjunct Lager. Serve ice cold and drink it up before it warms.

Poured from a 15.2 ounce green bottle with swing top porcelain stopper and a rubber seal into a Shaker pint glass, "enjoy before" date 7-29-15.

APPEARANCE: pours a clear yellow color with 1 finger white head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin, broken layer of small bubbles, there was almost no lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: skunky, sweet and metallic.

TASTE: initially sweet then a skunky, mild hop profile, the 5% alcohol is imperceptible, not much else going on here, it tasted better cold and got worse as it warmed.

PALATE: medium carbonation and body.

OVERALL: I used to drink this before there were micro-brews because it was something different, my palate has really changed, there are better lagers to be had domestically and abroad, I would not but this one again, the bottles are great for home brewing but that is the best part about this beer.

This is my third favorite beer, but it is hard to find here, where I am. I prefer it in the green glass cork topped bottle.

the flavours are stronger in the mouth than on the nose. Definite grass hops with bready malts hanging about.

Format: a stumpy embossed green bottle with a fun swing-top and a decent macro label.

Appearance: pours a deep yellow colour a half-finger of decent white head that drops to a thick cap with good lacing.

Aroma: some grass hops and a touch of malts. Pretty boring to be honest.

Taste: the flavours are stronger in the mouth than on the nose. Definite grass hops with bready malts hanging about.

Aftertaste: some bitterness coming through from the hops along with a tiny bit of sweetness from the malts.

Mouth feel: light in body with a decent amount of carbonation.

Overall: not a bad lager at all, but neither is it anything too special. Pretty standard macro and a pretty standard macro price at AU$45 a case. Still, decent.

One of my first favorite beers, I used to buy these by the case in college whilst trying to look a tad more refined than my "whatever's cheapest" friends.

I think I like it a bit too much due to my dutch blood, and having drank gallons of the stuff on draft in the Netherlands during family visits.

It can definitely get skunky and flat here in the U.S., i've had some bad batches before.

My rating is skewed by nostalgia, but It is definitely a good dutch lager, best served VERY cold (chill a stein!).

It's a crisp beer that's way better when its cold than when it warms up. I think the cost is only justified if you're getting the bottles. because you don't see those Spring-top/flip-top/spring-top bottles anymore.

Best before 3/6/15.

Pours a clear gold with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, sugar, and slight grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and grass flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is drinkable, but it gets noticeably worse as it warms up.

Serving type: bottle.

When I was first getting into real beer, I liked this a lot, maybe it's the bottle, but it always seemed just a little nicer than what was in my parents fridge. Revisiting it this weekend was uninspiring. It's heavier in malt than I remember, seemingly stale and under carbonated, and definitely light struck in its once distinguishing green glass. Skunks for sure, this may be a little older than optimal, but it's heavy as these lagers go, more sturdy and definitely with more malt flavor. I bet this is much better fresh at the source, but it doesn't travel real well in my experience. More filling than it should be, just quite unremarkable compared to my nostalgia.

Best part is having the bottles for home brewing later.
