Appearance: Very deep mahogany brown, verging on obsidian, with a large, dense tan head, which retains quite well. Thick broken lacing coats the glass walls.
Aroma: Strong notes of bitter cocoa, coffee, and chocolate. There is a bit of chalk as well.
Taste: Opens with strong bitter cocoa and cold coffee notes. The coffee note intensifies as the taste progresses, later some charcoal appears. Late in the taste an earth note manifests itself. The finish is dominated by bitter coffee and bitter chocolate.
Mouth feel: Smooth and soft, quite pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: This seems more like a porter, and a coffee porter in particular. Still, its very good.
Presentation: Packaged in a sixty-four ounce growler, served in a Sam dams Boston Lager glass.

Blackish ruby under a chocolate cream with a roasty, charred aroma.
Begins with a quick twang of black malts, before giving way to a bitter chocolate. Roastedness grows until it reaches a full espresso expression. Oily smokiness appears as it warms. Not much besides dryness in terms of hops.
Light bodied, detrimentally so while cold (and it is consistently served much too cold). Gains weight as it heats, much to its benefit.
Inexplicably easy to consume. Beyond sessionable. A light-hearted yet interesting-enough stout that is about perfect considering the climate and location.

It was poured into a chilled American pint glass. In my opinion it was poured too cold.
Black as coffee in appearance and had a light tan foamy cappuccino head.
At first the aroma was not very strong and it tasted like a weak black cup of coffee. As it got warmer, however, the beer's characteristics began to come alive.
It had a light roasted coffee bean aroma. The taste reminded me of a cross between an espresso and mocha coffee. The flavor became more roasted has it got warmer. As a whole, the taste was a little tamed - a bit mild for a stout. I had a watery fell to it.
I thought it was a good stout for a hot beach climate. It had a refreshing quality and I could see myself drinking this on a balcony overlooking the beach at night. However, compared to other stouts it was average, fairly standard but a bit mild. I think it is worth a try and I would not mind having it again if I ever go back to South Padre. It was not my favorite stout, but it was good dark beer for summer beach weather in Texas.

The beer arrived on the table translucent black with a tan, low and frothy head which lasted to lace the glass.
The aroma was nice and roasty with coffee and some dark grain acidity.
The flavor was roasty with a dry, dark chocolate and coffee component. Also present was a light caramel flavor and a nice fruitiness.
The finish was dry with lasting chocolate and coffee into the aftertaste. The body was medium. This beer seemed to miss the mark of a stout and would have made a nice porter.

A - Dark brown. Tan cap for a head. Good lace.
S - Roasted malt and a hint of fruit. Subtle aroma.
T - Light coffe roasted flavor. Nutty. Fruity undertone (raisin). Weird plastic taste. Finish opens up some new earthy, roasted flavors.
M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
D - Decent drinkability. Kind of middle of the road overall.

Color: Dark Brown nice tan head, medium lacing
Smell: Roasted Malts with coffee, almost smokey
Taste: very smooth, chocolate and coffee notes.
MF: medium carbonation
I could drink this beer all day, although it is lacking in creativity. I feel that the brewmaster could have taken control a bit more. middle of the road, but very enjoyable.
