A - Very slightly cloudy orange with a fair head that faded very quickly. Lacing was also fairly weak.

S - Not a ton going on, has a yeasty smell. Faintly similar to a womens private area (sorry closest comparison)

T - Good, Grapefruit taste which i dislike but for scoring is ignored as it is my problem. Other than that malts dominate and hops take a back seat.

M - Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation that went nicely with the beer.

D - It was easy to drink (minus the grapefruit) and at 4.3% is easy on the brain. That said I would not call it a session beer. (567 characters)

A 330ml bottle with a BB of June 2015. Picked up a while back from a supermarket. The label mentions that this is hopped with Goldings and Cascade.

A: Poured into a cervoise. A deep orange-amber hue with some floating sediment and light carbonation. Yields a decent head of frothy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before collapsing to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of sweet caramel malt with hints of subtle pine, mild weed, grass/hay, barley sugar, ale yeast and stewed hops. Pretty good.

T: Tastes of caramel malt and leafy hops with a restrained bitter finish. Notes of mild pine, weed, grass/hay, faint citrus, barley sugar, a touch of grain, ale yeast and stewed hops. Slightly sweet, followed by a subdued bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with prickly carbonation and decent body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of stewed leaves/cardboard, caramel malt and faint ale yeast.

O: Not bad; won't blow you away though. Lacklustre looks - lack of carbonation and head. The aroma and flavour are alright, with a good caramel backbone and balanced hop bitterness. Body is OK. A satisfying pale ale that goes down easily enough. The only remark I have is that it isn't actually that pale. Worth trying. (1,269 characters)

Half pint in the Greenwich Union, Meantime Breweries tap house: I gave a bottle of this beer an overall score of 3.98 back in Feb 2010; the on-tap version didn’t do so well.

Bright and clear, the amber body looked clean and inviting; the off-white head didn’t hang around or give off much lacing. The aromas rising from the glass were of floral, fruity hops (is this dry hopped after brewing I wonder?).

Hops dominate the flavour, bitter and fairly sharp tasting, almost leaning towards an over hopped pilsner in its feel and body depth. It didn’t really do it for me, well carbonated, in fact too well, hence my pilsner comment: not the best Meantime beer by a long way. (679 characters)

Very tasty beer, however, reminded me a lot IPA due to large amount of hops used in the recipe. Aroma: hop (intense), malt, orange, and maybe a bit of roasted malt. Flavor is also very hopped, bitter, malty and floral. Light carbonation. Beautiful bottle and label. (265 characters)
