On tap at Schouskjelleren, Oslo. ABV was said to be 4.7%. Black colour, moderate beige head, nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of cranberries, hints of chocolate and mild coffee in the background. Fruity and moderately acidic flavour, cranberries of course, roasty notes (mild coffee). Fairly refreshing.

750ml bottle into a goblet. Label says "best before see shoulder", but nothing there.

Looks very good in the glass. Pours dark brown, producing a black body. Small tan head retains well, scattered spidery lacing.

Nice cranberry aroma.

On tasting, tart cranberry, fairly strong. This is the only flavor present. The base stout is completely overwhelmed by it. What is pleasant and interesting at first soon becomes a bit of a chore.

Mouth between thin and medium, finish tart cranberry.

Overall, one of those beers where the sum is less than the parts. The lack of anything but cranberry in taste and aroma becomes tiresome.

750ml
Caged/Corked
ABV 6%

Poured into a Westy chalice a very nice brownish color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy light tan one-finger head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with chocolate notes, fruity, tart. The taste is malty, tart, fruity, with a nice little chocolate note. Medium body, the finish is slightly dry, with a nice touch of the chocolate. Overall, this is a tasty brew, basically two-thirds fruity, one-third stout, lol

A: poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass to a deep brown that borders on light black with a two finger dense light tan head that fades somewhat quickly and leaves some lacing. Light struggles to penetrate this brew showing some ruby edges.
S: smells of roasted malt, minerals, chocolate and some tart cranberry
T: taste is tart cranberries, roasted malts, a little chocolate, coffee and mineral heavy water. swallow is more tart cranberry, roasted malts and bitter dark chocolate
M: Somewhat light on the palate for a stout with soft but adequate carbonation and a slightly drying finish
O: This is one fairly strange brew. it struggles to be a good fruit beer or a good stout. I'm not sure what it was that they were attempting with it but it falls a little flat. Not a drain pour by any means but it's certainly lacking in my humble opinion.

750 ml bottle into pint glass; bottled on 9/6/2013, 6% ABV listed. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, toast, cranberry, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with decent strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, cranberry, toast, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Light fruity tartness/earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, cranberry, toast, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish fora short bit. Nice complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/acidic mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid fruited stout. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. I was expecting much more robustness from malt flavors for a 6% stout; but it was an enjoyable offering.

On tap at The Old Toad in Rochester, NY.

Pours a fairly light brown, with some red tinges. Not much head or lacing. Doesn't look very stout-like, honestly.

Smells like cranberry, sugar, red wine, and a very small amount of chocolate.

I'm honestly not getting a whole lot of "stout" in this one. Slightly tart cranberries, with some sugary fake cranberry juice flavors, a small amount of sweet malt, and some chocolate. Not a whole lot of typical stout flavors, including any semblance of roasted malt. I'd be hard pressed to call this a stout, honestly.

Light bodied, medium carbonation, somewhat drinkable.

A bit of a disappointment. Only a stout in name, more of just a straight up fruit beer (that's not even that good in that regard)

750 ml corked and caged bottle, back label says 6% ABV. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours very dark brown with some ruby reddish tints and about an inch tan head. Head retention is decent, and there's a small amount of lacing. The brew smells like cranberries, roasted malt, berries, and some chocolate. It's a nice but light aroma. It tastes mostly like tart and sweet cranberries/berries, along with some chocolate, roasted malt, and a bit of wood. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and easy enough to drink. I thought it was a decent enough brew, but I guess I was just expecting this to be better. Still, it's worth a try if you've never had it before.
