Pours honey to amber with a 3 fingers+ offwhite head. Great lacing & head retention

Smell: Huge citrussy/piney notes up front & then some fruitiness

Taste: Piney hops, followed by citrus hops, folowed by floral hops! Frutiness finally fights through & then a dry hoppy finish

MF: Slightly oily with good carbonation

Pretty drinkable, too hefty to drink all day. This is a nice little gem that will probably not see much daylight out side the southwest, but that's okay, more for me! Hopheads & IPA fans will totally dig this...

Poured from a can with a best by date of 1/11/14; into a pub glass.
Appearance - a deep gold, plenty of bubbly carbonation; thick, foamy white head. Plenty of sticky lacing.
Smell - a kick of citrus hops, followed by some grass and pine.
Taste - certainly hop forward, not much balance. I enjoy this West Coast style approach to an IPA, so I enjoy this!
Feel - not very complex, really hop forward, but this doesn't have the outstanding bitterness that most top notch IPA's have.
Overall - this is a surprisingly good beer and at an affordable price! The convenience of having this available in a can is a plus!

12oz can, from Tipsy's Liquor World in suburban Denver. Strange hermaphroditic imagery on the label - 'prying open my third eye'.

This beer pours a clear, medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, densely foamy off-white head, which leaves some decent spooky forest lace around the glass as things evenly subside.

It smells of somewhat bitter citrusy hops - grapefruit, orange, and lime - soft pine resin, a pastry-esque caramel malt, crystalline toffee, and a bit of floral booziness. The taste is mainly consistent - understatedly bitter mixed domestic citrus hops, buttery caramel malt, a hint of vanilla extract, a touch of pine needle - with some subdued perfumed alcohol warming sidling up against it all.

The carbonation is fairly sedate, and even a little underwhelming, the body a pleasant enough medium weight, and agreeably smooth, with a soft creamy twinge. It finishes off-dry, the hops sinking mostly away, while the caramel and toffee malt sweetness sits in a satisfying holding pattern.

BA calls this an IPA, the brewer calls it a pale ale - I'm inclined to sit right smack in the middle - and my scores are reflected thusly. Aside from classification pedantry, this is actually a pretty tasty ale - just bitter enough to offset the otherwise heady malt profile, and reserved in its overt elevated booze notes. I'm not quite delving into deeper consciousness just yet, but I'd imagine that after a few more of these, I'd at least have a good lock on a starting point.

Thanks to the incredible woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a deep golden color with orange hues and a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very hoppy, a bit of citrus. Taste is big on hops, dry, considerable bitterness, some malts kicking in at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

The visit to CANorado is really paying off as this one was on my Wants for quite some time

From the CAN: "Seek Enlightenment".

The Crack was uneventful and so I went with an inverted Glug for the first time in a while. This resulted in a mild pseudo-cascade and two big, puffy fingers of French Vanilla head with great retention. Nose was grapefruit and caramel and my mouth was watering. I was more anxious than an expectant father in the waiting room just before his first child. I still took the time to note its deep-amber color with NE-quality clarity. It was approaching copper, so I put SRM = 8. Love The Old Lady for hooking me up with a pocket chart. Mouthfeel was medium and the caramel sweetness came on fast, initially, but then the grapefruit of the hops unleashed itself and the assault was on! Man, I felt like a junkie getting a good fix, man. I have been drinking various and sundry styles of late, but as a hop head, I needs my hops, baby. Finish was mellow, like I had been drinking tea and CANtemplating my navel. My eye is opened!

12 fl oz can served in a pilsner glass, reviewed live:

A - Pours a nearly transparent orange/copper color with a finger and a half of sticky, soapy, just off-white head. Retention is average. Generic.

S - Sweet, buttery caramel is dominant. Bland pale and crystal malts build the weak foundation. Very light floral hops. Incredibly simple. Mild in strength. Not really excited to try this one. Imbalanced on the nose.

T - Hops are more evident on the palate, but only contribute bitterness. Bland malt extract-like note throughout. Bitter on the finish. Sweet, basic malt and caramel destroy any balance. Simple and uninviting. Watery.

M - Thick. Watery.

M - Just....No. First beer I've had from the brewery and I won't be actively seeking out another. Poorly executed.

Medium, maybe bigger light tan head settles into a nice lacing above a clear copper golden colored beer that seems to be well carbonated.

Light citrus and floral hops aroma with just a tad bit of a grain malt coming through.

Nice hops bit with citrus, pine, and light floral aspects in the taste and again there seems to be just a tad bit of grain malts sneaking in.

A nice dry almost bittering aftertaste with just a hint of the hops taste on this medium bodied IPA.

A decent IPA, worth a try, although there are better IPA out there, not many come in cans that you can take tubing, to waterparks, etc. for that reason I give this a big thumbs up. Forget the Miller, Bud, etc. and grab some of these when heading out.
