Poured from the can I purchased at Wilbur's in Ft. Collins into a pint glass.

Very pale yellow with barely two fingers of white fizzy head that disappears very quickly. Scant lace left behind. It looks like so many of the adjunct lagers. A bit disheartening.

The aroma is most faint cracked grain, weak mild hops and straw.

The flavors are mostly sweet malt, mild hop spice, and a light toasty grain aftertaste.

Feel is probably this beers greatest attribute - medium light and full of bubbles. Almost a clubbin' brew.

Overall pretty mediocre. Given the Kolsch style characteristics, this beer is not what I call bad. It just isn't what I want very often. It's very Coors-like.

blargimus had sent me a box of CANs and although I was quick to get tone77 his share, I put mine in the reefer to chill and then got caught up with both school and a heavy influx of bottles, all of which are now put to rest.

From the CAN: "Colorado Kolsch German-Style Ale", plus a beautiful representation of the state flag. MUCH more visual than the paper label on the bottle in the picture.

The Crack revealed another brimful CAN and I was glad that I was cautious in its opening. The inverted Glug was perfect and two fingers of bubbly, bone-white head with moderate retention quickly formed. Color was a pale straw-yellow with NE-quality clarity and loads of CO2 bubbles in evidence. I wonder how Greg Koch feels about CANsumers of this fizzy yellow beer ... I feel CANfident in my beer CANsumption so it really does not matter what other think of me. I think that the nose had an interesting grassiness to it, undoubtedly Noble hops, along with a light biscuit maltiness. The mouthfeel was light and bubbly, just effervescent enough to give it a tingly feeling on my tongue. Tee hee. The flavor was veddy dry, slightly vinous as the style description mentions, with a light biscuit flavor also. Finish was like having drank a dry white wine spritzer. It was light, airy, highly refreshing. This would be a dangerous beer to have in my cooler on a hot summer's day as I could really plow through some of these.

Woodychandler comes through again with this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a 1/2 inch head, lots of carbonation. Smell is malty, grassy. Taste is crisp, grains, malts, light and easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

A small to medium white head settles into a thin lacing above a clear straw golden colored kolsch.

Some sourish grains, very light citrus, and a little sweetness in the aroma.

Light citrus lemonish hops with an almost grassy or straw taste coming through.

A dryish aftertaste that seems to have some light bittering aspects to it on this well carbonated light bodied beer.

Light but decent tasting, worth a nod if you like beers of this style.

Draft pint at the Steamworks brewpub in Durango. GABF silver medal 2010. Arrived bright clear gold with big fluffy white head. Sweet hay aroma with slight clove/spice and is it a hint of peach? Clean crisp grassy hop flavor. Find it disappearing rather quickly.

On tap at Euclid Hall the beer arrives in an oversized wine glass. A bit hazy with a pale yellow golden color. A decent 1 finger head with some retention and little lacing. Looks average. The nose is a mix between cereal malt flavors and a earthy hop tone. Grassy. Hints of fruit with apple and pear. Again, average. The flavor is exactly what the nose would detail, a strong cereal malt base from which grassy and earthy hop tones build. Crisp and clean and lighter end of medium bodied. Well carbonated. Overall, a very average beer. Nothing exemplary not worth noting. I will not be back, likely.

this is a fine brew, bit its painfully boring. in my mind its just a beer, simple as that. lacks all of the malty complexion required of a good kolsch style beer. nothing remarkable in the nose or the palate. mouthfeel is fine, plenty carbonated and easy drinking, but its putting me to sleep in a sober sort of way. again, not a bad beer by any stretch, but this is at best a craft beer for the budlight drinker and makes almost no appeal to an evolved beer palate. maybe if i go golfing on a 100degree day ill bring these, but other than that nevermind.

On tap at steamworks, the color got me really excited, straw yellowish. Smell was decent and faintly sweet could not pick out anything in particular. Taste was a little sweet for the style.

Overall its not a bad brew but there isn't anything that is very special in this one. Would drink again but I'm not going to be hunting it down by any means.
