RB

On tap at Bittercreek... Polished orange brew... Sudsy white head.. Tropical fruit hoppiness... Some pithy citrus... Very balanced and super drinkable... Gets a little too malty for my palate with warmth... Enjoy this one colder.

Excellent IPA. Dry, light malt and heavy on the hops. West Coast Style.

on-tap @ Belmont Station.

Hazy, golden with a thick, billowy white head.

Big citric and resiny hops dominate in both the aroma and the taste. Really well done, delicious.

Medium+ body with foamy carbonation.

This certainly hits the spot when looking for a big, hoppy IPA. The citric and resiny hops are quite well balanced.

On cask at the Belmont Station Fringe festival.

The beer pours an attrative orange amber with pretty good head retention and decent lacing (especially considering this was cask conditioned). The nose is all IPA goodness and was probably this beer's best feature. On this particular day, I got a considerable amount of dank earth, light pine and considerable sweet orange citrus. Flavors generally replicate the nose, with more of the pine flavor coming out. However, there is still plenty of delicious oranage citrus in this hoppy/bitter, west coast style IPA (the beer has some nice underlying sweet malt, but is ultimately dominated by the hoppy bitterness, leading to a dry, bitter finish). Mouthfeel is medium bodied to full, with a long, bitter finish. Drinkability is pretty good, though it actually came across as a bit more boozy than I would have expected for a 7.6% abv. beer. In any event, I found this to be yet another impressive, enjoyable beer from the folks at Barely Brown.

Note: Some IPA's benefit from cask conditioning, and some don't. My guess is that this is an IPA that is better on gas then it is from cask.
