Graciously shared by Jeff (jdense) today at the BA event at beermongers.

The beer pours a golden amber color with very good head retention and considerable sticky lacing all around. On the nose... good grief... this beer displays an incredible aroma of pine, dry citrus, dirt, tobacco and dank skunky hops. It just doesn't get much better than this if you're a hophead (guilty on that one sir). The flavor profile replicates the nose, though of course it's not nearly as intense (not sure how any beer could match this beer's nose on the palate). Still, this intensely flavored "west coast all the way" IPA otherwise shows just enough light sweet malt to counter and balance the considerable hoppy bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is no more than medium bodied, but with a long, full, bitter finish. Drinkability is pretty good considering the abv. In fact, it's surprisingly drinkable given the noticeable alcohol and huge flavor profile, as I felt as if I could possibly drink several pints of this great beer.

Just an absolute tour de force... in case anyone hasn't noticed by now, this is clearly a brewery that needs to be taken very, very seriously.

Thanks to Shain for sending me this growler. Will re-review tomorrow when it's a little colder. Pulled this one out a little warm.

A - Very see through and looks soo crisp and clean. Yellowy orange appearance with a 2 finger white foam head with some legs on it

S - Getting a lot of piney west coast style ipa smells along with a good balance of tropical fruits that really make this blend of an IPA shine, definitely some hints of malty smell but nothing to detract from the overwhelming aromas of hops and tropical fruits

T - Taste follows the nose with a hoppy in your face start with tropical fruits closing in towards the middle and a bitter somewhat dry finish

M - Mouthfeel is a little thinner than I would have liked, but hey this is a DIPA. I am comparing this only to my favorite DIPA and that is King Sue and that mouthfeel is out of this world for an IPA. So this is still just fine with a crisp medium bodied feel that leaves a ever so slight burn at 9%

O - Really impressed with my first taste from Barley Brown's, Shain and I will keep trading and I will definitely be going after more growlers of this and Boneyard.

Kudos to Barley Browns for implementing the tropical flavors with the hoppy bitterness that encompasses so many west coast IPA's

Clear dark yellow/orange with a nice long lasting white head.. great lacing.. Nose is a massive tropical fruit bowl that has just enough pale malt to move this up into the DIPA realm, but never is sweet.. just a hop delivery device. Nice bitterness, but not teeth-scraping, tons of clean American hoppiness... Has to be a bunch of Citra in this monster... One of the best smelling/tasting PNW DIPA's I have had in a long while.

A couple of 16 oz pours from a newly opened tap house in Salem OR called Heroes.
Nice looking beer bright golden with a large frothy white head.
Great wafts of fruity, spruce tip hops..gets a little resiney but not a lot.
Taste is like the aroma with the citrus/fruitiness shining through.
Great mouth feel..medium with generous carbonation moves this big guy along easily.
Great beer..i was definitely careful walking home after just two!

32oz grumbler filled earlier @ The Growler Run.

Pours a golden orange with a foamy white head.

Big resiny, lightly boozy notes. Citrus, orange zest.

Not the best I've had, but still a well done DIPA.

On tap at ABV. A clear light orange with a dense, white head that falls off to a thin ring leaving little lacing. The nose is awesome. Bright, pungent, citrus and piney hops. Bitter pine, mildly earthy, mildly minty. Moderate tropical fruit as well. The palate opens with a big, pleasing pungent bitterness, palate bruising in its awesomeness. Bright hop flavor with a ridiculous amount of pine with a little spruce, grapefruit and candied orange peel. While the beer is resiny on the finish, it does feel just a hair watery on the mid palate in a way that?s distracting. Malt character is practically absent. Medium light in body, moderately carbonated , this beer has a long, bitter finish with grapefruit peel and zest most noticeable. Barley Brown?s DIPAs have always had a mild astringency on the bitterness and this isn?t an exception. The Chinook also adds a little catty flavor. Nice stuff.

Super sticky piney citrusy tropical goodness. Poured from a growlette from FOB in Canby. Nothing but good things from Barley Brown's.

Had this on-tap at the brewpub in Baker City. Pours a brilliant dark golden with a slight head. Smells pf piney hops and some firm malt. Great flavors! Wonderful blast of pine right off the bat, like a Christmas tree. Quite intense, and the flavor just keeps going and going. Just enough sweet malt to support the resinous hops. A huge beer and lovely to sip on this after a long day.
