Growler gifted by Shawn Kelso, enjoyed while watching UCLA football game, poured into The Beer Mongers flute, 10.29.11
One finger slightly off white head, uneven bubbles, medium dissipation resulted in broken thin layer of head on top of light amber clear body, a few lazy streams of bubbles rising to surface. Big hop presence in the nose from single-hop Crystal approach, floral, balanced by bready malt aromas. Taste mirrors nose, though the malt is a bit more biscuity than bready on the tastebuds, some spiciness and floral notes on the back end. Mouthfeel on the light side of medium, light effervescence. Quite drinkable. Not the big hop bomb you'd expect from Barley Brown's, a real drinkable, sessionable pale ale, though a cleaner (munich) malt profile might have highlighted the hops a bit more.
Serving type: growler
