(Served in an Imperial pint glass)

A- This beer had a dark opaque brownish body with a thin wisp of a tan head. No carbonation was visible through the body.

S- The soft smell of dark roasted malt had a slight off-note but it was pretty smooth and cold smelling overall.

T- The taste of coffee and molasses had a nougat note with some off pot caramel notes. There was a carbonic acid bite that finished the beer.

M- This beer was medium-light and had pretty water texture.

D- This beer was thin and watery with the only real flavors being a bit of off flavors in the malt.

A - Dark brown, hazy, and almost purple in the light. The head is pretty small, but like their other beers shows some pretty good retention. I have a feeling that if I poured this myself, it would have a bigger head.

S - Smoky and salty like pork. Burnt rubber and some odd chemicals make themselves known, but they aren't offensive. Tobacco is there too.

T - Smoky like the nose. This is almost like a friggin' rauchbier in it's smoky and salty meat character. It reminds me of tobacco leaves hanging in a hot barn in Virginia. Whatever, that's just what popped into my head at the moment.

M - Medium bodied leaning towards thin with middling carbonation and a salty beef jerky finish that fades into dryness.

D - A really good and unique porter. I'd definitely have this again the next time we visit this joint.

A very dark brown almost black in appearance. Smells of freshly roasted coffee. Taste is earthy smokiness up front. Followed by a very sweet middle and chocolate finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, low carbonation. Good porter I would love to get this again if I am in the Chicago area.

Served slightly too cold at the Schaumburg RAM last night. I waited a few minutes for it to come up to temperature a little bit.

Dark brown color. Nearly zero head. Roasted malt smell is subtly accented with the aroma of a mocha latte: a whiff of chocolate, coffee, and nuttiness. Taste is similarly flavored, supported by a pleasantly sweet roasty flavor. Taste is a little restrained, but nice. Slightly watery mouthfeel.

I don't have anything bad to say about the flavor of this beer, I just wish they'd turn it up a notch. Slightly watered down flavor is the only disappointment. But it was a fine accompaniment to my dessert after dinner.
