big, nice looking brewpub. dark wood, dark lighting, lots of tv's in the bar area. not much brewerania to look at. was disappointed by the beers. there were about six to choose from and the ones we had were served way too cold and were thin, watery, and lacking in character and flavor. for example, the "big red ipa" was neither big, red, nor an ipa per style guidelines. no guest beers, just the half-dozen or so house beers that are offered are available. if you're on a quest for beer in the chicago area, there are better options.

Can't believe I've never rated a RAM before. I've been to a handful, and the quality has been pretty consistent location by location. Since I'm most familiar with the Schaumburg location, that'll be the one I review.

The vibe and aesthetics are markedly like a neighborhood chain restaurant, although that's not really a bad thing. Chain restaurant aesthetics are bad when they're too aggressive--Applebee's is aggressively stupid, Red Lobster is aggressively ersatz, Buffalo Wild Wings is aggressively masculine, etc. RAM's have a little bit of a soulless prefab feel to them, yes, but they're not in your face about it--they don't make the waitresses dress slutty, bad music isn't blasting, and there's no kitschy crap on the walls.

The beers are consistent. I've never had a RAM beer that knocked my socks off, but I've also never had one that wasn't at least pretty good.

The food is maybe a step above your standard chain restaurant fare, and the beers are a step above, say, Granite City, or even a good number of smaller, non-chain brewpubs. Stopping by RAM doesn't generate the same king of enjoyable adventure vibe you get from checking out a new, completely independent brewery. But it does mean you're in for solid beer in a pleasant atmosphere.

All of the beers served icy cold whether they are an Oatmeal Stout or a pils.

Surprised on the lower ratings on this location; stop by on a Fri or Sat night, jammed. Rest of the time, steady. Must not be anyone taking time to review.

Have stopped here many times on the way to or from O'Hare. Great place for a beer, solid choices, not over the top, but good beer, good service, have always had that, and solid atmosphere. Nice outdoor patio, good merch, if you like. The $5 summertime growler fills were nice, too.

I've visited Ram Restaurant and Brewery in Schaumburg on many occasions as I used to live about 5 minutes away.

The Atmosphere is great. There's a separate bar and dining area. It's laid out well and provides a clean, comfortable environment.

The Quality is pretty good. I give a 3.5 for the food as I've enjoyed most things I've ordered from here, but nothing has really stood out. I give a 3 for the beer as nothing I've had from them has stood out while not being bad either.

The Service is great. I've never had a problem, and they provide timely, polite service.

The Selection is alright. They have some house brews, but as of the last time I visited, they didn't offer anything noteworthy outside of that.

The Food is good. I've enjoyed what I've ordered, but I've never had anything that would specifically bring me back. Their mexican-influenced burger was probably the thing I most enjoyed on the menu.

Overall Ram is an enjoyable location to eat and drink, but on that same note, I've never had anything that's brought me back, which is why I haven't visited in years. However, if you haven't been here before, it's good enough to visit and make your own call.

It's an open dining room on one side with an open bar on the other. The bar doesn't get loud and the place is split with part of the kitchen and some isolation walls.

It's got a nice atmosphere with earth tones, darker woods, and precision lighting for tables and eating areas. There are TVs in the corners in case someone has interest, but they are unobtrusive otherwise.

The beer focuses on their house variety, which are all pretty good. Their seasonals are very good and worth trying for sure if you get the chance.

The private rooms are part of the restaurant/bar enough to maintain the idea of being out for a good time, but gives enough seclusion that your party won't be interrupted.

The food is quite good. Their burgers are done very well and their bigger plates are fantastic. Some dishes seem a little high in price, but from experience, the portion is about right and the quality doesn't make you regret it.

It's definitely a place to try, especially if looking for micro-brewed beer. The menu has a good amount of variety for either a decent sized meal or just a burger (good burger at that) to have alongside a couple of beers.
