Amongst the few times I've come to this place, the last time I came here was was when my girlfriend brought me for my birthday (does she know me or what).
Anyway, The atmosphere of the places looks similar to the other ones I've been to it does have that chain restaurant feel to it, but the brewing equipment and bar area do look rather unique.
The overall quality of the establishment is pretty good there is no visual problems or out right complaints that I've had with anything in particular in my visits with the place. Or else I probably wouldn't come back as many times as I have.
The service is pretty darn good, they have a pretty good knowledge of the beer types that they serve. As well as the majority of the individuals have been attentive and friendly. And as far as I recall they've never messed up an order.
The selection is anywhere between 6-8 beers depending on the season. They have their standard brews as well as some rotating seasonals. For the most part I don't care for a few of the regulars save the Porter, but the seasonals tend to be rather nice. Even with the limited options it's rather nice that they have their own style of beer.
The food is good as well I believe that I've never been dissatisfied with it. I particularly enjoy several of the meals that either beer batter or use beer in the bbq sauce. Overall, the food and the beer combined keep me coming back.

I've visited Ram Restaurant and Brewery in Schaumburg on many occasions as I used to live about 5 minutes away.
The Atmosphere is great. There's a separate bar and dining area. It's laid out well and provides a clean, comfortable environment.
The Quality is pretty good. I give a 3.5 for the food as I've enjoyed most things I've ordered from here, but nothing has really stood out. I give a 3 for the beer as nothing I've had from them has stood out while not being bad either.
The Service is great. I've never had a problem, and they provide timely, polite service.
The Selection is alright. They have some house brews, but as of the last time I visited, they didn't offer anything noteworthy outside of that.
The Food is good. I've enjoyed what I've ordered, but I've never had anything that would specifically bring me back. Their mexican-influenced burger was probably the thing I most enjoyed on the menu.
Overall Ram is an enjoyable location to eat and drink, but on that same note, I've never had anything that's brought me back, which is why I haven't visited in years. However, if you haven't been here before, it's good enough to visit and make your own call.

It's an open dining room on one side with an open bar on the other. The bar doesn't get loud and the place is split with part of the kitchen and some isolation walls.
It's got a nice atmosphere with earth tones, darker woods, and precision lighting for tables and eating areas. There are TVs in the corners in case someone has interest, but they are unobtrusive otherwise.
The beer focuses on their house variety, which are all pretty good. Their seasonals are very good and worth trying for sure if you get the chance.
The private rooms are part of the restaurant/bar enough to maintain the idea of being out for a good time, but gives enough seclusion that your party won't be interrupted.
The food is quite good. Their burgers are done very well and their bigger plates are fantastic. Some dishes seem a little high in price, but from experience, the portion is about right and the quality doesn't make you regret it.
It's definitely a place to try, especially if looking for micro-brewed beer. The menu has a good amount of variety for either a decent sized meal or just a burger (good burger at that) to have alongside a couple of beers.

There was a desire for steak, and since I really enjoy the steaks at the Wheeling location, I figured I'd take a friend of mine here. 'Twas a Monday night, somewhere 'round 7pm; the place was pretty crowded, but we were able to quickly get a table in the "lounge" area. It's a chain restaurant-brewery like any other, with semi-dim lighting, semi-sports/semi-classy eatery decor. The year-round brews are generally pretty good, but the seasonals this time (an Irish red and a pils) were kinda weak. The waitress really didn't seem to know much about the beers (couldn't recognize the Irish red by its name, even) and was a tad on the slow side, but nothing was given in error. My friend and I both enjoyed our steaks (she seemed to like the beers more than I did, for whatever reason), though this was in no way surprising. Overall, a nice place to hit every now and again, but not really a true destination in its own right.

Visited 10/7/2010 late in the evening (half hour before last call).
Service was prompt and friendly. Too late for anything from the kitchen so we just got a sampler. Had a nice conversation with the waitress about the upcoming 20th, or 25th (can't remember) anniversary of the place and about the fact that they make the same standard recipes at all these places, which saves me the trouble of ticking them all.
The beer was all over the place in terms of quality. Some were downright bad while others were bordering on good.
Didn't stay long but the place was open with lots of tables and high ceiling. Don't know how loud it gets on a Friday or Saturday night though as we were there on a Thursday night.
Nice place over all but not sure if there is a good reason for me to go back, unless I'm staying in the area or a friend really wanted to go.

Man, was this a big place, yet hard to find.
A huge bar with huge tables along the walls. They make their own beer offerings and I tried their Hefeweiss which was pretty good. Everything food related we had was quite good despite a slightly steep price. The staff was very friendly and helpful until it came time to ordering the beer, but I did not mind.
I would go back again for sure just for the food. I would be curious how their other beer offerings stack up for the styles they are in. The deep fried pickles were amazing by the way, i would go back just to try a few brews and a giant bowl of those fried pickles.

Ram Restaurant/Big Horn Brewing is located in Schaumburg right off I-90 on McConner Pkwy. They have a fairly large lot.
The inside is very spacious with high ceilings. The lounge/bar area is on the right and the restaurant seating area is on the left. There is a lot of brick along with red/brown colors and the place has a somewhat industrial feel. In the bar area the brewing equipment is visible, and there are large boards displaying the beers on tap.
As for the beers, this location has more or less the standard "spiral" group of beers from the Hefe, Big Red IPA, 71 Pale, etc as well as a seasonal (Maibock). All of the beers are more or less average and are available in a sampler for $4.
Service was decent on a weekday lunch. The bar server didn't seem overly knowledgeable about beer but was friendly.
The food at Ram is pretty good, no complaints about my sandwich.
Overall this is a decent stop along the highway but is pretty far down the list of Chicago-area beer spots.

I really like this place. I've been several times when travelling in the area. It's a loud sports bar atmosphere. The beer and food are good solid products. The service at the bar was a bit slow, but was due to the crowd that was gathered there. Pretty standard bar food menu, but large so something for most people. They specialize in burgers and have a variety of named special burgers. The food is always good here. It's nothing pretentious, just good solid food done well. I'd say it's pretty reasonable, but that could vary. The burgers might be a bit pricey, but the steaks are a very nice price.
