Just Beer from Massachusetts, new to Ohio let's dive in. Semper FiPA, the Brew for the Proud. Pours brilliant copper orange tinted with a big billowing off white head. Aroma has citrus, herbal, spicy hops with a bit of dirty earth...I have to call it more English style or New England style IPA. Flavor has a nice dry bread like character, moderate sweetness with big layers of hop pellets being drug through the dirt...literally big earthy layers of hops and a touch of citrus and floral notes as well. I'm not a huge military enthusiast but I could picture some New England vets drinking this stuff in number and singing about the shores of Tripoli. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with even carbonation flowing forth with a touch of resinous hops. Overall not bad IPA, just not what I prefer, overall I hope to enjoy more of their Golden Flounder and I hope the military slogan gets this beer by, but honestly it's not my favorite IPA.

Working off memory here, as this was a one-off brew. Really well-balanced beer with the right amount of hops. Truly one of my favorite New England IPAs. Easy drinking, but definitely an IPA with a good hop aroma and flavor. Highly recommended if you can find it.

22 ounce bottle, figured I'd try it since it's a relatively new arrival to Ohio. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy amber color with an inch off-white head that sticks around for a while. There's a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is nice but weak, it smells like grassy hops and some bready malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like grassy and citrusy (grapefruit) hops, and some bready and caramel malt. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick with moderate carbonation. This brew isn't going to blow you away with hops, so if you're looking for something with a hop kick this probably isn't for you. I think it goes down easy enough and it's not bad to drink. I think it's worth trying.

poured from a 22oz bomber into an old Buzzards Bay pint glass.

a: dark amber in color with a pretty thick haze. thin and whispy white head sticks to the sides of the glass for a while.

s: pretty weak aroma with notes of earthy and grassy hops and a bit of sweet bread-like malt aroma. not much else. which this had a bit more citrus hop aroma. dry-hopping is pretty weak here.

t: interesting blend of ctirus and earthy hop flavor with a solid malt backbone. pretty bitter but the hop flavor doesn't really jump at you the way an IPA should. maybe this bottle wasn't as fresh as it could have been, but i just think the hop profile was a little off.

a pretty good beer, just not that great an IPA in my opinion. i remember Semper Ri....i kinda wish they made a Semper RiPA or something. it would've been cool to see a sequel to Semper Ri. not sure if any proceeds of this goes to the Marines like the old beer did, but the military theme is pretty cool. as with all their beers, a great value @ $3/bottle. worth checking out!

Light fizzy head, hint of lacing, semi hazy golden brown orange color.

nose light citrus hops, hint spicy cascade or centennial like, some sweet reddish malts, hint of candy hops, mint, citrus fruit.

Taste sweeter to start, fluffy reddish malts, quite biter, big spicy hops american cascade variety, light candy citrus hops, but a bit thin. Finish is slightly dry, fairly bitter, light sticky malts and spicy hops.

Mouth is med bodied but feels a bit light, decent carb.

Overall not bad, decent hops, nice light malt that balances stil fairly well, but a bit thin.

Semper Fi PA

LOOK: Unfiltered and ultra cloudy with lots of yeast hanging in suspension. Does sport a frothy white head that leaves plenty of lacing.

SMELL: Hoppy scent of flowers and orange citrus.

TASTE: Mild citrus and faint bitterness, finishes kind of sweet. Bland caramel malt foundation and very smooth but also watery.

MOUTHFEEL: Thin, watery, low carbonation.

OVERALL: No freshness date but great IPAs tend to hold up regardless to some degree. This isn't even close to a good IpA. Needs a lot of work.

This pours a very murky brownish-amber with a small, fading head. Nose offers slight hoppiness, with sweet malt. Flavor: bitterness is there aplenty, but hop flavor is distinctly lacking--slightly piney, but not what you expect from an IPA. Body is watery and thin.

Bleah, not a very good beer.

A- Pours a lighter golden amber color with a fairly thin off white head. Head has pretty solid retention and leaves a bit of spotty lacing.

S- Picking a bit of citrus, touch of spice, mint and bready malts.

T- A bit sweeter than I'd like, but then the hops move in. Good amount of bitterness, a bit of spice and overall pretty well balanced.

M- Lighter side of medium in body and carbonation was ok.

O- Nothing terrible or outstanding. Some of the proceeds went to a good cause so that's pretty cool and worth the try just for that.

Rich orangey amber, mildly hazy. Very short eggshell white head with nice lacing. Bread, apples, oranges, lemongrass and fresh hops. Earthy overall aroma with some pine and cedar notes. Big hop bite with subtle fruit flavors and caramel malts on the initial sip. Hints of grapefruit, molasses and some bready tones follow into a round, smooth body. Mildly citrusy and sweet mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Hops and fruit sweetness embody the aftertaste which is simple and concrete. Pretty average for an IPA.
