This cost plus does not have a great selection. The mix 6 pack area is a joke, each beer costs 1.99 each. And it was all nationally distributed stuff save 2 or 3 selections. I didn't even buy any beer here. The selection of locals was a joke. The coolest thing they had was Primo but it was like 9$ a six pack. The prices here were ridiculous I just ended up leaving with a mineral water an a few snacks. Honestly some world markets that have a decent mix 6er selection are worth it but ones like these are just going to be a waste of your time.

Since no one has reviewed this beer store lately, I'll venture to say nothing has changed over the years. Some local beers, some imports, some oddballs, and mostly six-packs. In downtown San Diego, everything else is a hike from the convention center and the big hotels, but I'd go to the Ralph's supermarket for cold beer and a modest selection of local micros, if you've never had any of them. But the Super Junior is worth a detour if you have time to go north of Broadway.

My biggest criticism is that everything is warm, and I don't have a good feeling about how well beers last or how fast the turnover is.

I have occasionally resorted to a Cost Plus when interesting beer seems to be unavailable, or transportation is lacking. So it's at least a place where you're guaranteed to find something drinkable.

i am getting sick of reviewing these places because I leave disappointed most of the time

Same selection of a little Stone, Sierra Nevada, and Anderson Valley

Had Young's Double Chocolate Stout for only $2.50 a bottle along with Chimay Grand Reserve for eight dollars

Carry Old Skratch Amber which is a good beer from Flying Dog out of Colorado

Sell some beers as singles, but not all of them like most other locations

Were out of Arrogant Bastard when I went, which happened to be what I went for in the first place

Lady checked the back for some and I came up empty handed

Another large chain retail store which is not much to talk about

I'm not sure why this place is on here, but I'll review it anyway.

This place is like a Pier One with a decent alcohol selection. Take your wife or girlfriend there and let them shop for the home while you go pick up a few micros, wines, balsamic vinegars, mustards, etc. The wine selection here is great. The beer selection isn't too bad. If you walk one block east to the Wine Bank you will fare better on the wine selection.

I wouldn't recommend coming here for your booze, as there are far better selections of wine and beer at other stores in San Diego. If you're visiting San Diego and are staying in a hotel in the Gaslamp, then, by all means, walk to this place to pick up your goods and walk to your hotel room.

This is the only CPWM that I've visited that did not match its substantial wine selection with an equally strong selection of beers. This location near the San Diego Convention Center is a neat store in an older warehouse type building that has been updated for store purposes very nicely. However, it does not contain the number of singles available at the venues in Ohio. There are a number of world beers packaged in sixers and variety packs, along with a number of micro variety packs, but the width and breadth at this location is disappointing.
