EDIT: 7/8/2007
Quality here has become quite awful. Recently had pints of Bear Republic Racer 5 and DFH 60 min. that had significantly diminished hop character. A friend had an Arogant Bastard which was just plain bad. Expect stale, old beer.

Great selection of draft beer. It naturally has all of the macro standards but also has a really great selection of craft brews including Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard, DFH 90 min. IPA, all of the major Great Lakes brews, Old Rasputin, and the list goes on. The best feature of the bar is its happy hour - 5PM-7PM/ 7days a week and all pints are just $2!!! Also has a great patio. The kitchen offers your standard appetizers, which are of the quality that you would expect from your average bar. I would recommend going earlier in the evening to avoid the downtown trendy crowd that usually filters in around 10:00 - nice eye candy (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), but not the typical group of people that I like to enjoy quality beers with.

Great Beer, Good Patio, Chill Place to Hang.....but dont expect good service or food. Usually there are hot girls but they are pretty stupid about the type of beers they are selling....I would rather have that then the grumpy dorm mom they have that thinks she knows everything. All in all I would go again and again....best place for beer just need better staff.

A grungy college bar that happens to have a very deep and strong tap list. The best of Ohio's micros can be found here: GLBC, Fatheads, Columbus, etc as well as Dogfish, Sierra, Left Hand, Oskar Blues, Stone, etc. You should only go for the beer; the menu is limited and the food is absolutely awful. The service was friendly and efficient but knowledge of what was served was in the customer's court, not the server's. There's better choices to be had in Akron and I will make them upon my return.

I am an Akron native and have visited 69 Taps many times over the years and have always had positive experiences. The crowd is hit or miss as are most bars in Akron.

As you walk through the door and descend the steps you arrive in a cozy little setting with a nice amount of TVs and a jukebox. The room to the left has another small bar, pool tables, darts, and restrooms. There is a very nice patio that can be enjoyed in the warmer months. Lots of tables and booths make for a comfy setting for groups. This is a pretty clean bar if you arrive before 1030 when the college crowd tends to roll in.

The servers are mostly college girls and are very easy on the eyes. This is great but most of them are lacking on the beer knowledge. The will provide you with a beer menu and allow samples of anything you want to try.

Tap selection is great with a very nice selection of beers that change from time to time. They also have the normal college crap beers. Liquor selection is adequate. Bottle selection is limited. I have a 95% success rate at taps but there have been a few times where the beer has seemed a bit flat.

Not a food bar!! I have ate here one time and the food was very mediocre.

While not perfect Taps is a very cozy bar with plenty of eye-candy and the best tap selection you are going to find in downtown Akron. I will continue to stop into Taps and I love the Friday eve "Super Happy Hour" from 4-9!!!
