The place looks fancy enough with it’s wood finishings, it’s tri-level construction (including a nifty rooftop patio), and fifty some big screen TVs, but unfortunately it’s all chain bar hell from there. I do have to give it up for the waitstaff, who are mostly of college age but not at all the inattentive slackers that that stereotype would imply - at least in Austin. Their tap selection is fairly mediocre - about two dozen even, mostly easy to find micros and macros, although the Austin location does carry at least one Live Oak tap at any given time. The main thing I don’t like about this place is the way they do business: I’ve had several bartenders and waitresses confirm the company policy of either cutting someone off after 3 beers if they haven’t ordered any food, or else having a manager come out and chat with them to make sure they’re not too inebriated to continue. Excuse me, but am I drinking in a bar or checking into daycare? Seems like a poor excuse to force the customers into laying down money for their high priced victuals rather than providing any real public service.
