Head retention was great, amber color, clear and clean flavor.

Hop aroma is average for IPAs despite being served in a too cold glass.

The flavor is this beer's strongest feature. A strong malty back with enough hops to dominate. Not overly hopped like a west coast IPA, but enough for an American IPA. Probably their best beer.

Golden amber with off-white head that lingers well in pint glass. Good lacing.

Smell is fruity with slight pungent citrus.

Malty with nice fruit and hoppy citrus. Hops are a bit subdued. Mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied. Average carbonation.

Overall this is a decent IPA.

A: Served a hazy dark coppery with a off-white head and good lacing.

S: Aroma of citrus with a malt sweetness hint of caramel and fresh grain.

T: Starts with a bit of citrus and sweet malt with a bit of fesh grain. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Fairly medium body, quite smooth, nice balance. Nothing fancy here.

O: Probably the best of the beers they serve. Makes a decent session beer.

On tap at Cannon Brew Pub, 10/18/10.

Appearance: Pours a transparent golden orange, sort of the thing one would expect from an IPA, with one finger of nicely proportioned dull white head. The staying power leaves a little to be desired, but it does leave a few dollops of nice creamy lacing and a minor collar,

Aroma: Subdued but definitely present. A nice leafy and floral hop aroma dominates the a honey-sweet, lightly roasted malt foundation, and a few pleasant acidic hop astringencies add a little depth.

Taste: A strongly herbal hop profile on this one, with flourishes of citrus, leafyness, and grassiness coming through at places. The bitterness is moderate, not overpowering by any means, and interacts well with the grassy nature of the hop profile. The maltiness is biscuity, crackery in places, and definitely takes a backseat to the hop show, as it should.

Mouthfeel: Soft, smooth, and sparsely carbonated, like most of the other beers I've had here at Cannon this evening. This one could probably use a little more carbonation, however, as I actually like what I'm tasting here. Nonetheless, it manages to get the job done, even if it's a little creamier and subdued than I prefer.

Drinkability: A beer that was a little more than the sum of its parts, I think. I've had this beer a few times now in Columbus, and I've noticed differences each time I've had it, suggesting that it changes a little from batch to batch. That's a good thing, I think - sort of quaint. At an eminently respectable 4.5%, this one's quite quaffable, too. Recommended.

According to wikipedia, this must be an IPA that "conducts specialized operations such as reconnaissance, unconventional warfare, and counter-terrorism actions." The Green Berets of beers, if you will.

Anyway, it's a copper, slightly hazy IPA with a slim ring of white head. Smell is one dimensional hops. Taste is caramel malts and lingering hops. Mouthfeel is decent, and drinkability is great. This is a very sessionable IPA, considering the ABV.

This arrived with a big, foamy, medium-tan head with low retention. The color was a slightly cloudy medium-amber. It had a great floral nose. The mouthfeel was medium, but the taste was only mildly bitter. The finish had a lingering bitterness, but not enough to captivate me.

Appearance: Clear, yellow-orange body with a foamy, off-white head and spotty lacing.

Smell: Light pale malt aroma with a floral, soapy hoppiness.

Taste: Pale maltiness with a touch of graininss and just a hint of sweetness follow by soapy, floral hoppiness and a pronounced, yet reasonable amount of hop bitterness which lasts into the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Currently being brewed at 6% ABV, it's a solid IPA and has grown to be one of Cannon's best beers in their lineup.

Pours an amberish orange, pretty dark for an IPA. Minimal head, but the bartender poured most of it off on the top-off. Not much on the nose - a little hint of hops (probably due to having been served ice cold). Very light hop taste on the palate, with a tad bit of malty sweetness and a touch of astringency. Not exactly what I would classify as a true IPA, but oh well. Fairly drinkable, but not for hopheads. Probably one of the Cannon's lesser beers.
