Man I love good government. The Georgia Legislature eliminates restrictions on beer, and all of a sudden it becomes much more pleasurable for me to visit my parents in Columbus. This is the first (to my knowledge) beer brewed at the Cannon to take advantage of the lifting of the 6% cap. Pours a deep reddish brown, not really that distinguishable from the red ale. Very small, off-white head that leaves minimal lacing. Nice aroma of spicy hops and roasted malt. Palate is dominated by the rich roasted malt up front, evening out to a nice balanced hoppiness towards the back of the mouth. Notes of orange and a touch of brown sugar come though as well. The alcohol is definitely noticeable. Good thick, slightly syrupy body that should be a part of any double IPA. Probably couldn't drink more than one pint of this, but it's a wonderful reason to go down to the Cannon. I hope Hank the Brewer keeps up with the high gravity stuff.

The body is a slightly hazy copper with a weak head. The aroma is buttery (much like the rest of their stuff) and slightly malty. It really needs more hops in the aroma and flavor, but the hop bitterness is ok. They've got the strength there for a double IPA, but need to bring up the hops to match.
