This is a true BA bar. It very much caters to craft beer drinkers and BAs, but is very welcoming to people new to the scene. It's very laid back and a warm atmosphere. I'm not sure how they could improve it.
Downstairs is a fairly open, yet still warm area with lots of faded wood. A fairly large area of tables bring you to a large horseshoe shaped bar. On tap here are ~20 non-Belgian style domestic and import beers, no BMC. Locals are always represented with Terrapin, Sweetwater, Wild Heaven, and Jailhouse. A hundred or so bottles are represented at this bar.
As you go up the stairs beside the bar, you enter an intimate, cavernous area known as the Belgian bar. I can't imagine a better drinking environment than this Belgian bar. Here are ~6 more taps of only Belgian and Belgian style beers. There are also hundreds of Belgian and Belgian style bottles to choose from.
As you look around the Belgian bar, you notice a small, closed off room. If you peak in, you'll see hundreds of bottles previously aged in the BSP cellar and ready for consumption. They always multiple vintages of many cellar-able beers, both popular and obscure. From Chimay Blue to Cantillon Gueuze to North Coast Old Rasputin, there are many verticals you can drink here. They have many hundreds of beers on the cellar menu alone. The BSP cellar program is better than I've seen or heard of anywhere.
All beer is served in appropriate glassware (usually from the brewery) at appropriate temperatures. All vintage beers are aged at cellar temperatures with very little light interference.
The service is very good. Multiple servers will help you out at any point in time which helps a lot because this place can get crowded. The servers are very knowledgeable, particularly when you take into account how many they employ.
The food is interesting and flavorful. I eat here at least monthly. I could eat nearly anything on the menu.
This is possibly the best beer bar in the country. If you know of something better, please BM me with details - seriously.
