Oliver Twist is the "baby sister of the extraordinary beer bar Akkurat, located just a few blocks away.
Oliver Twist (or OT as they often call themselves) is more of a cosy local restaurant than a beer/whisky-institution. In recent years, they have focused on American microbrewers. Of course, they have beers from Sweden, Belgium and Britain etc too, but if you are looking for a interesting selection of hoppy brews from the other side of the Atlantic in Sweden, this is the place.
Apart from the house beers Hell, Heaven and Fallen Angel (all from Jämtlands bryggeri and developed in collaboration by Akkurat, OT and Jämtlands), they usually offer some 20 kegs and 3 cask ales (they were one of the first Cask Marquee pubs outside of Britain) and approximately 150 bottled beers, all carefully selected by the staff. Check out the web site for an updated list (click the nyheterna link).
The majority of the food is the expected pub grub; fish & chips, steak, chilli con carne, filled hot baguettes, pasta, luxury hamburger It is a bit costly, but the food is much better prepared than in most pubs. Please note that there are two totally different menus, one for the bar and one for the tables. I still havent figured out why.
I can personally recommend the Janssons frestelse, a traditional Swedish dish of sliced potatoes, pickled herring and onions that is baked in cream (it is much better than it sounds). The spicy frozen cheesecake is lovely, too.
The overall atmosphere is relaxed, inviting and friendly. Many of the guests are regulars and locals. At summertime, they open the windows and put up a small beer garden at the pavement. The open design can make the restaurant noisy and as a guest you are quite exposed. Not the place for a discreet romantic dinner, I would say.
The friendly staff got good knowledge of beers and they can often give good advices. At times, the place can get very crowded and then, the personnel seem to be easily stressed.

Went to OT while visiting friends in Sweden.
It's a good beer bar. Atmosphere is kind of generic beer bar style, with various beer-related decorations. Limited seating (although there's a restaurant area with more seating, but only if you're ordering food). It was very difficult to tell what beer they actually had. There were a few chalkboards with a couple beers listed, but they were spread around the space and weren't all listed in one spot. There was no bottle menu. It was difficult to order because of the noise and lack of menu. That being said, they had some good stuff on tap and a few local options. We tried several of the Swedish beers, while the Swedes enjoyed the US imports. Quality of the beers was great, and all were served in appropriate glassware.
The crowd was mixed, mostly 30-somethings but with a few younger people and a few older (and even elderly) people. Service was just OK. Bartender was fine, but the person running food and picking up empty glasses seemed to have an attitude.
Beers are very pricey, same as anywhere in Sweden.

One of the main reasons that I checked out Oliver Twist on a summer trip to Stockholm was reviews from BA. It is located on the island of Sodermalm in the city, which seems to have become a bit of a trendy neighborhood. The specific area it is in is very neat, with cobblestone streets and hills in the vicinity. Anyhow, it is not that large of a bar/restaurant. They have quite a bit of U.S. drafts, with a good selection of Swedish drafts too and a good bottle list that also includes some Belgian offerings. For Euro residents, it is a great spot to try some U.S. craft beer. For my crew, it was pretty good spot to have some Swedish beer. It was pretty good, but we were a bit disappointed. The Swedish beer was solid, but nothing great was on draught. And for the bottle selection, it was not as good as other spots in the city. We had a couple appetizers, that were tasty enough, nothing special there. And as we expected in this beautiful city, prices were expensive.

Visited Oliver Twist while in Sweden for the Stockholm Beer & Whiskey Fest. Arrived around lunch time and the place was already pretty crowded. Cool pub atmosphere with a lot of nice beer paraphernalia decorating the walls. The selection was pretty much dominated by American beers, but they had one of my all-time favorites, Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted on cask! The service was pretty slow due to the amount of people. For Stockholm, the prices were pretty reasonable. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the BBQ Bourbon Burger. The fish and chips were probably the best I've ever had, and my wife's burger was also very good. We visited all of the top beer bars in Stockholm, and this was probably my favorite all around. Highly recommend!

4th beer-related stop in Stockholm. i was hesitant to hit this place since its reputation on BA as an american craft bar, but i'm glad i did...
atmosphere - sister bar to akkurat, with a more pub-like atmosphere. we had a few seats at the bar on a sunday night and enjoyed some great conversation with the bartender and some of the other patrons
quality: all the taps were fresh and new, served in nice glassware and attentively poured
service: great - bartender was well experienced and navigated me through the swedish crafts available
selection: tons of american crafts available but a nice variety of swedish craft taps as well. i dont think its accurate to state an american tourist wouldnt enjoy this place. i had no interest in drinking american craft in stockholm and had a BLAST at oliver twist, even closed the place down drinking nice swedish craft with very cool locals
food: did not try

I snuck over here after going to Akkurat and I was greatly disappointed. First of all I was there at least 20 minutes before I got any service. This bar is all about American beers, they dominated 70% of what they have. They are decent beers but nothing special, nothing i havent had before. The foreign beers they do have are nothing special. If I was a Swede into American beer this might be a cool spot. However, if youre an American no need to come here, crush the foreign beers. As a positive they did have bottles of Abyss which was cool, the price of about 60 wasnt.

This place is bringing a lot more of a burly edge than its more "refined" sister bar Akkurat, (which is one street over actually...if I recall right through what is still a Swedish beer haze) this place is purely one to bring a group of friends to and enjoy numerous tasty beverages while sharing raucous, rowdy, and crass jokes. This is the everymans bar (a local, really) that lures the uninitiated in with the promise of a dive bar, but stands ready to enlighten the senses with a superior selection of excellent brews.

I have strong feelings for this place. This was where I learned to appreciate high quality beer for real. Me and my friends have had truly epic evenings at this place.
The atmosphere is really good with suitable music and friendly guests who are more than happy to discuss just about anything, but mostly beer.
The same goes with the staff. They are well educated and if there's that much pressure on the bar at the moment you can have a chat with them aswell.
The selection of beer is excelent if you want the american stuff. They are kind of weak when it comes to other countries, but if you go to Oliver Twist it's because you want to drink american beer.
Oliver Twist is the importer for almost all american beer that we have in Sweden, so can keep the prices relatively low.

I can strongly recomend this bar. The atmosphere is very nice and the quality and service is outstanding! The food is legit (typical barfood). The kitchen closes between 10-11 and the bar is off between 11-02 depending on what day you happen to visit. The selection is awesome since im a fan of american ales but if your into belgian i would rather recommend "Pressklubben/Duvels" in downtown Stockholm. This is the place i found my taste for a good brew! Note that OT is the importer of most american breweries. The prices is fairly good aswell..
Good beer is not expensive, it just costs more money...
