A -Poured a clear orange gold, very quickly dissipated head with lacing left behind

S - Lemon and roasted nuts, very pleasant and summery

T - Roasted malts, very floral hops, buttery caramel and coriander, with a sharp lemon and hoppy finish

M - smooth and quite carbonated, has a nice 'zing' to it

O - Overall, this had a lot of nice flavours going on, and really has a good spring/summer feel to it. It might be the lentebock style, as I'm not that experienced with them, but this had a bit too much lemon in it for my preference. Other lentebiers that I've had (lentebier, not lentebock) were not quite so dominated by the lemon as this one, so unfortunately it's not up on my list of favourites, as I usually enjoy Hertog Jan's selection a bit more.

Not bad, it remind me of somewhere between an American and a German bock. It had ha hay like color with an orange hue. The white head and lace were both moderate. Malty bread like flavor with just a mild citrus ester. A lit bit medicine like in the finish. The aroma was a little more heavy on the malt than some of the other lenteboks I tried. It was a bit like malt liquor. The mouthfeel was thick and sticky.

On-tap at Doerak Biercafe, on to the beer:

This lentebock is light orangish in color and topped with a two inch head. A free show of lace is given, as much wraps around the glass. The fun aroma of honey, clove, nutmeg, and vague spice gives the beer a little distinction from other sweet springbocks. Ironic, because the taste is less complex, yet I like the way it tastes better than I like the aronma. Modest honey blossoms hit the palate, and with a little syrup and kiss of alcohol, provides a simple but delicious note. Given the cool weather at the time, it hit the spot.

A crystal clear, golden orange beer with a big bubbly head. Slow rising strings of carbonation.

Smell is bready, with a more than average malt presence when compared to a pilsner. The malt adds a doughy and honey smell.
The beer is clearly bottom fermented as there are some sulfur traces in the smell.

Taste is sweet malty with honey and bready notes. The yeast has not added a lot of character, maybe some low sulfuric notes. The mouthfeel is not too sweet and fits the style. The bitterness seems to develop over the glass and starts to increase.

appearance: bright gold / yellow. Airy foam, not sticking for to long.

smell: Didn't smell much at first, but after tasting i got a bit of honey, mango and orange.

taste: Very light and refreshing. Bit of honey sweetness. Fruits like mango, a tiny bit of a orange taste and flowers. All very well balanced, nothing really overpowers. Low on malt flavors.

mouthfeel: Light, thin, quite some carbonation going on, but short and tingly, giving it that freshness.

Overall: Not the best or most exciting Lentebock (Spring Bock) maybe, but a very easy going and refreshing one nonetheless. Great spring/summer beer, like they should be.

Bottle of 300 ml at home. This one has the highest ABV of all the spring bocks I've tried so far.
Pours a deep golden yellow colour with a two finger head, good retention, soapy. Average amount of bubbles in the glass.Quite hoppy and yeasty aroma.
Sweet taste, some caramel and fruits. The high alcohol s not at all traceable.
Average carbonation and average thickness, very dry on the palate.

A clear deep golden beer with hints of brass, a white head leaving lacing. Curtains.

The smell is sweet, like apple jam with a hint of mango chutney.

The taste is also sweet, fruity, like pears and fresh mango, some fresh orange as well. A sharp bitterness.

Medium high carbonation, small aggressive lively bubbles, soft and a full body. Slightly oily.

Not bad, but very sweet and an unbalanced bitterness.

A: dull bronze in color with a small head, but healthy carbonation.

S: yeasty and a bit sweet. Very similar to the Schneider Weisse Tap 7 Hefeweizen.

T: Different for a bock. It has some sweet Hefeweizen characteristics, however it doesn't taste so yeasty. And then there's the mild, funny underside which is definitely a bump of alcohol, yet mild enough to be pleasant. Given that, the flavor isn't too powerful, but flavorful enough. The alcohol flavor sits in the mix well.

M: On the watery side.

D: Nice beer, easy to drink relalative to it's abv.

Lente (spring) bockbeer is a tradition in Netherlands. It's more refreshing and easy, freshly fruity and lighter in colour than the Herfst (fall) bockbeer. Also more hoppy.

Golden colour, thin head disappearing quickly, modest carbonation.

Smell is fresh. malty and fruity.
Taste is a nice balance between fruity sweetness and bitterness from the hops.
Aftertaste is defenately bitter. The alcohol is present, but not too badly.

Hertog Jan made a relatively strong abv lentebock. It's smooth and easy nevertheless.
Overall very decent.

This is what we call in Holland a spring Bockbeer. A very refreshing bock with a nice amount of alcohol.

Darnk this one in the spring in the original Hertog Jan glass. A bit golden yellow like the springbock should be with a nice broken white head and without much carbonation. Very creamy and fruity.

Good smell and mouthfeel. This one can be drunk in spring and sommer.
