A good example of the style, I prefer it to more well-known examples such as Beck's, Bavaria, and St. Pauli Girl. Malty and very carbonated, with a slight hops bitterness at the end that isn't as noticible as many others of this style. Crisp and refreshing overall. Give it a try!

Hertog Jan pils is contrary to their specials beers brewed elsewhere namely at Dommelen. Because of this the story goes that it is a blend of Jupiler and Dommelsch both owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev and not a brew on its own.

The beer is rather sweet and has a some corn flavor similar to Jupiler. But overall it is a descent pint if you don't mind that and like Mexican brew. But this is certainly not the best pint the Dutch have to offer like some reviewer has stated.

Almost all other Dutch pints are better, certainly those from Amsterdam.

By far the best pilsner you can get in the Netherlands. Its simple, easy to drink and tastes good luke warm (dont ask me about it) and cold. A 6.5 compared to all beers (I mean its a dutch pilsner). A 10 compared to other dutch pilsners.

Look: Pale, clear gold with a fluffy white head.

Smell: The first thing I notice is sort of a musty smell, similar to mushrooms, followed by sweet corn.

Taste: Overpowering taste of corn, kind of grassy, grainy notes as well.

Feel: Medium body, sort of a sticky feel in the mouth, leaves a slightly dry aftertaste.

Overall: I'm from Iowa so of course I don't mind my corn, but I'm not sure I'd seek this out. It's fine easy drinking, what I'd call a "campfire beer," but nothing special.
