Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: Bitterbill on 12-02-2001

"Our Amber is a sweet, malty, medium-bodied ale with a spicy, floral hop finish. It's brewed with 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts. And we hop it with Mt. Hoods and Cascades. We're as proud of it today as we were back in '89. And over the years it's earned 14 Gold Medals. Not that we're keeping track or anything.

L: I give it an 8-14 on the SRM. Very clear and a definite dark amber mixed with copperish color. I didn't see much head at all and not much lacing, just a little. The head in my glass was about an inch, off white and didn't persist long with decent lacing. Again very clear in a way that was immediately pleasing to the eye.

S: Definite warmth from the alcohol that was the first thing that hit me. There was a citrusy smell, but subtle not strong. Very slight caramel and not much breadiness. There seemed to be a little bit of pepperiness mixed with the definite alcohol presence.

T: A grapefruit like quality that did not linger too long. Nice. There was also a little bit of orange mixed in. A roasted like flavor with a small amount of sweetness afterwards.

F: High-ish carbonation, but not too much, there is a nice sparkle like quality at the end. Not much warmth and not astringent as far as I could feel.

O: It is a quality beer that didn't cost much comparatively and the flavor and feel were in the pocket IMO. I would recommend this one and would drink it again.

Another one of my favorites that took me by surprise a bit. Heftier than you think it'll be but my goodness is it tasty.

A: Pours a beautiful, clear deep red/amber with fluffy white head.
S: Primarily floral/resiny hop with some malt
T: Almost a dead ringer for Sam Adams Boston Lager.
F: Crisp, clean
O: A good lager, with clean taste and piney happens.

Poured from bottle to pint glass.

Look: a lovely mahagony color with a thumb of white head.

Smell: lovely yeast-bread smell with hints of roasted malt.

Taste: really goes along with the smell, but finishes with a nice earthy hop flavor.

Feel: really smooth and crisp. Coats the mouth well. Perfect amount of carbonation.

Overall: a great beer!
